You have double checked the shut-down right? That is the number one source of "Ran fine then nothing" threads. With loss of the button or bowtie washer a close second and third....
Even with the in tank pump dead a lot of guys get them started. I would also start looking at the HH and the shutdown "nub."
Just pull the return line, and stick it in a bucket. Use a compressor in that hole to pressurize the tank (A little) and when you have flow at the filter cocks crank her.
