    Change my oil and this came out the drain plug.

    The chance that 100% of any metal in the pan has already come out of the pan is small in my opinion. You can only feel a small area with your finger in the hole. I would recommend both cutting open the oil filters and dropping the pan. This is easy to do and could save you some real grief...
