    fuel filter conversion unit

The relief valve I used is from "murcal.com" . It is the "PRV70" and sells for $36.00 + shipping. You can see how I installed mine in the thread I posted on installing spin-on fuel filters. I don't know how to add a link to the thread from here. I'm not all that computer savy like a lot of the...

    fuel filter conversion unit

Actually the only thing needed to mount it up was a flat plat of steel 1/4" thick. Then I used the filter housings to mark my holes. The biggest pain was figuring out the fittings needed to be able to work in the location it is mounted in. The reason I mounted up gauges was so that I could check...

    fuel filter conversion unit

Mine was cheaper, but his is easier to install. Just bolt it in. I bought all my filters and housings from "DiscountFleetSupply.com" . I also had to buy a 60 PSI pressure relief valve (cost $45.00 ) . If I where to do it again though, I would just buy "Jtonksa" kit and be done with it. This is...

The fuel pressure should not exceed 60 PSI. There is a relief valve between the fuel filters, also on the factory set-up. I just finished writing you a response on the DOT 3, DOT 4 thread.

    fuel filter conversion unit

I will stay with my 3 filter system like the military originally used (except with spin-on filters). The primary filter will go down to 32 micron, and the secondary down to 6 micron. This will allow my secondary filter to last a whole lot longer then if I did not prefilter with the primary, just...

    fuel filter conversion unit

I'm using the "WIX" 33352 filter on my truck. It will filter down to 6 microns, it's the best I could find for a reasonable price.

I have never looked, but AMBAC references there "FSA" filter. This information comes from the NOS Hydraulic Head I just bought. It is dated January 1966.

Can the Moderators please remove the oil diagram ! I hit the wrong button and now I cannot remove the stupid picture ! (Maybe I'm the stupid one since I cannot remove the picture)

I found this from AMBAC. It says that the final fuel filter should be a 5 micron on the deuce multifuel.

The Cummins 250 is a good engine, but no engine can run without filters. Also how often do the injectors have to be replaced ? On our Cummins engines that's around 50,000 to 60,000 miles.

That's because the deuce has used 3 fuel filters ! Now about the longevity of the Cummins with just one fuel filter, well the jury is still out .

    fuel filter conversion unit

Like I said before I don't know about the 5 ton units. I still would use more then one fuel filter though. But hey, it's your engine !

    fuel filter conversion unit

My point was I never saw a system that didn't have at least two fuel filters, weather you consider a "screen" a filter or not it still filters. So I take it no one wants to try the experiment ? Well I'll tell you my results. After I pulled the filter and cut it in half I compared it to the old...

    fuel filter conversion unit

What ? A filter is a filter, where it removes large or small particles. Though the in tank "screen" as you call it really does filter out a lot of stuff. Just for grins and giggles why don't you take it off for awhile after you replace the main filter (keep this filter for later) . Then with a...

Actually they are very affective in the primary cleaning of particles. That's why manufactures waste there money on them.

    fuel filter conversion unit

You should have a filter at the pump in the fuel tank.

    fuel filter conversion unit

I'm not familiar with the 5 tons, are you saying there is only ONE filter on the whole fuel system ? Nothing in the tank ? I have never seen a diesel unit with only one fuel filter, but as they say, "there is a first for everything" .

    fuel filter conversion unit

I wouldn't use just one fuel filter. No manufacturer uses just one fuel filter for diesel, and believe me they would for the extra cost if they could get away with it ! You can get away with just using two, Primary and Secondary, but no filter will clean out the water and clean down to 6...
