So bought 15 tubes of red grease, got 2 left. Holy crap do the knuckles take a lot. Put 4 tubes in the passenger side and about 4 1/2 in the drivers. Took it for a spin and the boot on the passenger side decided it wanted to bulge out. Got the water hose and trickled water under the boot...

So, got the drivers side tackled. Pretty clean, no debris, that's a good sign. I just need to remove the two plugs place a zerk fitting in one and grease till it comes out the other side. I'm debating using the air grease gun or not, and while I'm under it, if it has a grease fitting, it's...

I might get lucky and have them in the barn / work shop at my gramps. Being a small farm we have some big boy tools for the tractor and attachments.

Ok, cool. I was thinking about that. Sorta like the can't have no more the two studs broken non-consecutive order. Ok, so, gonna get everything together and re pack this week, put a little blue locktite on the bolts when putting them back in and not get all rambo with them. I was very pleased...

Before anyone gripes I over torqued, tm -20 para 7-9 doesn't call for torque specs. I had to use my small breaker bar to get the bolts loose.

So took the caps off and the bearing look good for initial inspection, no fluid came out so that's a good sign. Pulled a bolt off the bottom and drained the water out and looks like the seals are good no fluid there. Put the caps back on for the time being and well...I guess I'm stronger than I...

Thanks for the warning. I'll just go with 80-90 from tractor supply. Any thoughts on gear oil additives? And the socket size, 4" don't think my local autozone carries it, napa?

No plans on doing that on a regular basis. This was a whoops moment, I was expecting a smooth crossing, not what happened.

No, someone wants me to bring a 1070 to fl. Trying to swing it in one trip if possible. If it did work out I was going to see about renting your tow bar for a couple days.

We have that bearing packing tool from tractor supply. It's pretty neat, take clean bearing put in it, put top on and put grease gun on it and pump away. Grease forces into the bearings. I have ran synthetic oil in all my vehicles and diesels, and I'm a fan of royal purple. I know it's way...

What about the wiper and inner bearing seal on the rear, and the bearing seal on the front?

No problem. Will get it done this weekend. Might hit up some 4x4 shops around Baton Rouge and see if they have any seals, wiper, and cork gasket for the Rockwells and possibly the cv boot

Defiantly true on the learning part. You know, if this was any ground based weapon system, a m1, or 88 I wouldn't be asking questions, got all that in memory.
