ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

No I think 6' is cutting it short. I bought a 10' kit and did cut the tube and have a little bit of wire coiled under the dash but I don't think there's 4' of extra.... You could measure with a piece of wire or string to make sure. Jon

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Great idea! ....If they were willing to customize, I wonder if they would have put white pointers in the gauge? The orange is the only thing I don't like.... Jon

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

I did not use a weld bushing, I just drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold directly.... It's like 1/4" thick where I drilled it. Yes the 10' kit is plenty long... [thumbzup] Jon

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Well, that one had me worried, but I'm happy to report that the thermocouple didn't fail after all. I finally got a chance to take a look today, and discovered that the thermocouple had come out of the compression fitting holding it into the manifold, and that was responsible not only for the...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Well it's not the wiring.... My next step is to get another thermocouple and try that. I haven't pulled the old one out yet, maybe damage will be obvious. My fuel is turned up so high I don't like driving the deuce at all without the pyro. When I get the gauge working again I'm going to...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

This past weekend, my thermocouple failed (I'm assuming).... I was driving 55 on the freeway up a long gentle grade, keeping the EGT just below 1200 when the needle on my Turbocator gauge slowly began to drop to zero. It doesn't work at all now. I realize that the thermocouple probes operate...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

You were right Bjorn! I purchased a 3" gauge mounting cup from ISSPRO, model R7603, and moved my Turbocator gauge from under the dash to on the steering column. The gauge cup base has slots to mount it using a hose clamp, so installation was simple. Here's a few pics of the new installation...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

You could be right... It may get moved to the steering column soon! :-D I never thought to look at the rod as a measure of how high the fuel is turned up... I'll get back on that as soon as I get a chance to look...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Hi Group, I've finally had a chance to drive my deuce since the Turbocator gauge was installed, and I'm sure glad I added it! For the test run, I drove as though it wasn't there... I drove like I always have ...to see what kind of temps I've probably generated in the past. Typical around-town...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Fascinating... I actually didn't know that! I don't use pipe taps very often, I just looked at the laser engraving on the tap that said "use 7/16" drill" ......I drilled the hole, and drove that sucker through. I didn't have any problem and it made nice clean threads (drilled/tapped...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

I finished installing the Turbocator gauge today, but didn't have time to drive the truck with it in yet.... Tomorrow! Yesterday, I painted the mounting bracket and the gauge bezel green to match the truck. Installation was a breeze... I drilled and tapped the exhaust manifold with the engine...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Will do, Bjorn... Thanks for the tip! I hope to install it tomorrow... I got both from http://www.powertown.com/Scripts/default.asp They were the cheapest place I found on the net. Their website shows everything "in stock", but when the package arrived, it had been drop-shipped directly...

ISSPRO Turbocator Pyro / Boost Gauge

Hi Group, I searched the archives and was surprised not to find someone else who has installed an ISSPRO Turbocator, a really cool 3" combined pyrometer and boost gauge. It requires no electricity except for the bulb to light it at night, and uses a standard K-type thermocouple. I paid just...
