    If I were you, I would bypass and disable that valve anyway. You can manually engage the front end with the switch on the dash.

    Did you use the red one' front or rear, and open the valve? No reason why this shouldn't work.

    Have you tried applying shop air without the truck running? If so, was the air still escaping into the intake stack?
