I do prefer it a little cooler for camping, but I agree that moving the rally into November would put us on standard time and it gets dark early. It's also nice to have it warm if you do get wet or muddy, as opposed to cold, wet and muddy. And speaking of wet, it tends to be more frequently...
Just some more thoughts on the info board:
1. Trail ride schedules are very likely to change due to a variety of factors including weather, mechanical issues, and recovery delays. A fixed and published schedule would fall apart very quickly. The trail ride schedule is dynamic and would be...
Wireless is the business I'm in and I build cellular networks for all of the carriers. The temporary towers referred to above are called COWs, or Cell On Wheels. They are carrier specific and really expensive to deploy. The biggest problem with using COWs out there at D'Town is the lack of...
The weak and missing communications infrastructure at Durhamtown is a problem. It was made even worse by the loss of Durhamtown's radio repeater due to lightning.
Given the very large area involved, I think the idea of a status and information board located near the registration tent is...
I was thinking about the dry erase board idea as well, Drew. That way people could just walk up and see the plan for at least the next few hours, without having to chase down someone that might have an answer about dinner or the next trail ride.
What about having the "key people,"...
Ok, Michael has a Torus break of the radius. Basically he bent the bone and it crinkled it a bit. He'll have a splint and not a cast. It doesn't require resetting and it should heal just fine.
Not sure how to reach anyone back at D'Town with the communications systems being what they are, so I'm posting here in hopes you guys see this. We made it to the hospital, which is about 10 miles beyond Greensboro in the middle of nowhere.
They're checking Michael out now in the ER. Not sure...
Arrived 1330 or so. Great weather but a little warmer than I had hoped. Hung out a bit with John and Ron and then off to bed. Now if only the rest of the guys would settled down and knock off all the noise.
It's starting get daylight and I'm sitting here with my dogs, having a cup of joe to get the day started. As soon as the Monday morning Atlanta traffic clears up, we're on the way! My planned stop-over at Conyers didn't work out, so we should be there by 1300. Getting excited now. I'm ready to...
The clock is down to 39 hours for me. The truck is loaded and serviced. All I need to do now is load up the firewood, dump some ice in the cooler and go. My target departure time is 1000 Monday morning and an arrival at 1400, including a brief stop in Conyers to meet up with friend.
Robo, come on as soon as you can. Just get here. I'll be there by 2:00 Monday afternoon. Ron, John, the Morgans, and a few others will be there. You won't regret a moment of it. The weather is great and the company is even better.
I have a bit over 60 hours left to go before I depart for D'Town. If I didn't have a few things to do around the house here this weekend, I'd be on the way now.
Everything is coming together at work. I'm taking the while week off and I think I've got everything covered. I hope. I plan to arrive at D'Town about 1:00 or 2:00 on Monday. And I'm not leaving until Sunday afternoon.
My countdown timer says:
SSGR14 - is coming in 5 Days, 14 Hours, 59...
