Whoops! Lots of problems having it mounted that way. That would space out everything so less spline engagement and if it's on the rear it would pull it out of the diff carrier. It's not just the world's holding it though because the bolts go through both pieces. They also won't be ask concentric...
Could you please explain the usage of these? I'm having trouble imagining how these would function.
Seems they would just slip off the pins and then allow the nut to rotate. I'm guessing there is something I'm missing.
Seems they would require use of the previous split collar locks?
I think what he's getting at, this is actually a very difficult problem. The amount of torque needed to react to the loads, along with sealing oil, making a mechanism that locks all pins or whatever device in unison, also making sure they can't lock while driving, then you have to deal with the...
Not sure about torque on the land rover series, but some of my toyotas had several hundred lbs of torque on the wheel bearing nut and the nut had a deformable section. Pretty different setup to these trucks. I like the idea of locking to the splines curious to see that solution!
I'll be keeping...
Sorry if my comment came across as offensive in some way. I don't care for the split lock as if one screw fails (that can't be visually inspected) the wheel can detatch. It wasn't for me so I shared my modification, free for anyone who wanted it. I don't have the time or mental energy to deal...
I would argue spacers are not just a feel good solution, they are a mechanically better solution that also reduces installation error. They are also far less expensive too produce than a split collar.
Please don't take this as an insult, I'm super pleased you took on this challenge but iterative...
So I actually tried 3mph, it wouldn't allow it (humorously giving an error saying 0-10 was the acceptable range). 5 was the lowest it would take, 4 was a no go.
Some reference...I think I go the Cat software correctly set, any comments?
For the Allison side of things, I haven't had a chance to really look into it, and I've never tried to change the parameters before. I took screenshots of the "user configurable" area (although I couldn't find out...
I thought I read the C7 got a different tooth count on the oil pump? Came up in this thread https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mav%E2%80%99s-m1088a1-conversion.212126/post-2503751
Don't want it screaming rpms when coming down the hills around here. I get it's more effective but I'd like to not have it at it's redline.ive been happy with its braking in 4th before it downshifts to 3rd.
Great info! I haven't seen the cruise control menu in cat et, I'll have to look for it. I do have access to Allison software, but how does target gear work? If I say target gear is two, does it always try to hit gear 2 when engaging the brake? Does it care about engine redline? I'm happy with...
Was a little concerned about the small m5 cap screw that was the only thing keeping the wheel nut from loosening, so I did a modification:

I could, but there is no reason to remove the bolt. The clamp can be installed and removed with nut and screw in place, just loosened.
Yeah I was very careful about the false start/cross thread not sure what happened on this one, the other 5 did fine. Everything else went together great...
Had one of the clamps strip today :( oddly just a tiny sliver of thread came out, almost like too large of a tap drill used. Not saying that's the case but that's the behavior I've seen from that. Made a mod to the clamp with a nut on the other side (I will also deform threads "Bubba threadlock"...
Yes. The 2:1 ratio. While rpm makes a difference, the effect of braking is exactly 1/2 half what it was before at any given rpm (ignoring gear efficiency)
