I didn't know that either, I googled Sankey, still making wheels but owned by another company. They were the first company to produce a one piece steel wheel, prior to 1910, can't remember the exact date.
Wasn't the t case produced by an English company as well?
A couple of my wheels are stamped inside Sankey England, never noticed it before , also most of the wheels in my pile have no stamping at all. Were these early goat wheels? Later wheels made for the Army in Europe?
Tires are home, loooong trip to Austin and back to my house but made a small weekend vacation out of the deal, got 5 decent used tires, good to go on the back of the goat or for spare tire. Big thanks the G744 for letting me have them.
Headed to Texas next weekend to pick up 5 more good used tires, thanks to some members on SS, they were hauled from Phoenix area to Austin for me, one looks like a European tread design, wonder if this style is a recap done in Germany?
Got my new bearing today, good to go, measures out exactly same as old one. If you are needing one or would like to replace yours for peace of mind order away.
Ground is too wet to do much here today, so I decided to try and free up my truss kit. I picked up an almost complete set a few years ago and they were rusted shut.
I was able to free up everything except the brace, she snapped off not sure how I will fix that. Anyone seen a spare brace floating...
This quick disconnect on the brake line between tractor and carrier, does it serve as like a proportioning valve? Or does it just shut off the flow of brake juice when disconnected?
If any others interested in this bearing want to wait till I get mine to be sure I will post up the results of what I get, he told me it would be a least a week maybe more till I get it
Yes I'm sure, 89 turns up nada I checked it both ways, fella that helped me said 88208 was a valid number, cleaned the old bearing a little more, easier to see now.
I used the number on the bearing, 88208WW, it was produced by BCA. The company I called is locateballbearings.com, I emailed them an inquiry, the responded with a number to call direct 1 800 409 3632 ext 7021, a guy named Keith took care of me
They are a wholesale company, but would sell me...
I located the bearing from a place called locate ball bearings.com, they have 63 in stock, it is almost extinct, it is a BCA bearing and they don't even list is any more. The NSN and military part number show obsolete everywhere I checked. Looks like 63 dollars plus the ride.
Just an FYI for...
And if course something broke taking everything apart, a bolt in the bearing cap where the knuckle attaches to the tractor, I barley turned it and she snapped right off, glad I found it now
Here it all is, rubber insert looks good, the bearing not so much, it quit being a bearing some time back and became a solid mass
Getting the bearing off the shaft was the hardest part, air chisel and plenty o pb blaster saved the day
Bearing has a number on it, already found a replacement...
