Nothing too major, rated at 265kW (~360bhp) at 2200rpm, redlines around 2500. 1300Nm at 1400rpm, weights about 1500 kilo. Fuel consumption around 40 liters per 100km on highway speed (55mph), lowering to around 30 on small road and mountain speeds. The torque is ridiculous, and the turbos...
Not much activity here recently, how are everyone's projects doing?
We're still cruising around, too many projects happened recently to detail here, most important:
Hardbody shelter instead of tarp
16.00 tires all around
Bigger engine
In Europe with current diesel prices, about 0.9 euro per kilometer, all in. That means fuel, oil, tires, small parts, the works. There is no cost per month as long as you dont drive it (maybe some insurance/tax/garage depending on location).

Ah, the driver's seat is quite good, with spring and damper, and adjustable in all possible ways. Spend many hours in it without problems. I just hope you're not over 1.9m tall, because then you will hit the roof of the cab a lot ;) The other seats are acceptable, with the commander/shotgun one...
Thanks for the kind words! The yellow also helps at home, since it's the color for all roadside works vehicles. This allows me to park anywhere without drawing too much attention :)
Diesel prices are only high in the western world, as soon as you leave this region, the problem shifts from diesel prices to travel time and speed.
I have had no problems with thieves so far, guessing mainly because the truck is so out of the ordinary that they rather choose some regular...
I tried to but as you already mentioned, theyre not too great on customer contact, so I ended up buying parts somewhere else. No other experience with them, have written them off for doing business myself. Ofcourse going there in person is likely to give a completely different view on this...
Hello! Diesel is not really the problem, you can get it plenty, and its not that expensive in Africa. However, buying a truck and driving it to Zambia right away is asking for trouble. Not sure where you plan on buying one, but unless you get a fully restored one you will definately run into...
In case anyone missed it, I drove the tatra around a little, pics and story here:

I don't know on the 10w40 not being rated for trucks, but seeing as the heavy truck garage I changed my oil at had stacks of 10w40 barrels around, Im guessing it's quite common.
The pressure regulator was rebuild with standard parts. Theres nothing very special inside, actually, although I do...
Yeah I pulled the wabco and refurbished the standard pressure regulator/cleaner. Should've informed myself better before buying it, considering it another lesson learned. This winter I had no problems with frozen lines at all, so I'm now leaning towards the "dont fix it if it's not broken" side...
Well I made some new fuel tanks because the old ones were rusted beyond repair. Made them from 1.5mm steel so they're a bit more durable too (and rediculously heavy, but hey, the truck doesnt mind). I replaced the fuel lines with made-to-fit flexible ones with a stainless outer lining for added...
The air pressure regulator unit at the rear is set to blow off at around 6 bar, thats all there is to it.The compressor is a 2 cylinder unit with a valve thats opened and closed by the air pressure itself, much like an air matress footpump.
I took the compressor completely apart to clean it. Do...
Thanks for the compliments!
1500x21 is very rare almost everywhere I think. I will keep you in mind when I get to ordering some. Easy way out might be to get regular 10-hole truck rims 14x22.5 or something like that.
I tried to install a new air pressure regulator combined with air dryer and...
I've been asking around for those axle boots but no luck so far. I'm planning to buy new tires this fall, after I get my road-trip done (we're going to do a 4000km trip in july). Will have to see about pricing and such then, might be able to make a deal when ordering 16+ tires
On the cab...
Well, got some more work done! The front left brake cylinder was sticking, and it's a b*tch to remove because of the balloon tires. So, let's just remove the wheel....
Spend half an hour with a 3/4" socket and a 2 metre cheater bar to find out the wheel nuts are left hand thread aua With that...
There is a pretty good picture resource at TatraPrehled (http://www.tatraprehled.com/php/813has.php) The menu on the left switches between all different T813 models.
As for pulling 1 tank... how about 3? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGgDApJcBGQ
If I didnt had one already, I'd buy one
