no, actually you don't. there is an accumulator in almost all hydro-boost systems to give full braking power if pressure is lost. hydro-max incorporates a seperate electric pump. also, it's a manual transmission - if you're rolling, then the engine is turning and the pump is making pressure.

Jake, you're right about the rear discs: 450 and up are larger in the rear (14.5" f, 15.5" r) and 350 and down are smaller. and to think i was just researching those parts... yeah, i see what you're saying: the axles w/ the large amount of weight are recieving more braking capacity. i got lost...

this was my understanding and the basis of my statement when i said "this discussion needs to move from 'volume' to 'pressure'." i believe the front brakes have the ability to [and should!] play more of a role in the braking effort. therefore, if the front brake components are identical...

so you believe there is no proportioning in a modern brake system? then could you illuminate me as to why the front rotors on F350/450/550 are larger than the respective rear rotors (because this is mechanical proportioning)?

in effect, i you are correct on your proportioning, but i'm not sold that it has to be that close. but i say that as my own professional opinion without ever having actually tried it... so it means nothing. the reason i believe a 60/40 split would be better is because i want more pressure to...

you can. the folks on here are believing that applying the same amount of pressure to the front as the rear will lock up the front. what they are forgetting is that the front should require more pressure than the rear since the front generally does more braking than the rear (except when fully...
