Change the harmonic ballancer while you have it apart. If that goes bad your crank goes with it. You have it apart might as well do it now. Since you've pulled the head might was well get a valve job done. Your in for a penny might as well be in for a pound... :)
I was hoping GF would tell us that his dad is really a Bill Gates kind of guy and all the money he needs to finish his truck and move his gun smithing buisness into its own shop was just given to him and he has enough left over to get a few more MVs..... I guy can wish for good things can't he...
That motor looks very good and clean. Keep at it. It will start to cool down in the next few weeks and unlike us up here in the north that can't work from Nov.-Apr (ish) you'll have the cooler winter to keep working on your truck! :grd:
While you have it appart take the adjuster block apart and put a little antiseiz on it. It will make brake adjustments later in life easier. The brakes on the M211s are great!
I was interested in how you were going to turn them on and off. Are you going to use a control box out of a HMMWV or set up a relay. Even in the heat of summer you will find you'll need to glow plugs to kick on and off even if just for a few seconds for the motor to start properly. I'm doing...
Truck is looking good there GF. Take your time and it will be rolling before you know it. As a small business man myself I know having the right tools for the job makes a big difference. Kep up the good work!
That looks good GF. The starter you could set it to push a momentary contact switch and that would engage the starter relay to start the truck. No real linkage involved. What are you going to rig up for the glow plugs?
Air over hydraulic is still a hydraulic brake system. If the air pack failed one in thereory could still stop the truck though you would have to stand up in the cab and jump on the brake peddle to do so.... But since it is not and air system but and air assist system most states and DOTs view...
I know that's a 700r4 but it must be out of a Jeep or something because it has a drivers side drop on the transfercase. Which I know isn't a problem for you because your using the trucks T-case for well the t-case and this is just to give you high low range..... Just looks funny because of the...
The 700r4 is 1" shorter than the Th400. I've ben researching that info for myself lately. The only thing with the 700r4 is make sure it's a later model. I think like 1988 and later. The earlier ones had issues. Unless it's been all rebuilt. Also check that it has the TV or kick down cable...
The reason I asked is that I thought it would be easier to put it in now than it would be later. It's a good addition to the motor no matter if it's driven by a little old lady on Sundays or the little old lady from pasadina.
The 700r4 is a good transmission that got a bad rap (disclaimer...
