Coolant filter setup

I am installing a coolant filter today along with a block heater. I know there are several threads on others that have done it and I have read through most. The easiest way for my setup is to use the hose going from the trans cooler to the block. I think I can remove where it attaches to the block and attach it to the inlet of the trans cooler and then run another line from the outlet of the cooler to the block. I am unsure of the flow of the coolant though. Does this sound like it would work?

It doesn't need a "filter" it really isn't. It is a corrosion inhibitor. Keep you coolant up to par and you won't need it. The C series is not as prone to pitting liners as is the NHC. It is just another leak path.

I disagree. It's a cheap way to keep the cooling system clean. The filters are cheap. I have one on all my MVs. I used the ports that feed the heater to run the bypass coolant filter. I installed a T fitting in the beginning of the plumbing and added 2 ball valves on each input and output from the engine block. This way I can cut off the heater or the bypass coolant filters separately. It also makes it easier to replace the filter without loosing much coolant.
