Those are the flanges off of a water purification truck. Who knows how they got there-your truck could have been a WP truck that the bed was pulled off of before you got it, they could have parted out a WP while still in the service and used the flanges on your truck, etc. Any # of possibilities.

I do not know why the WP trucks got these flanges.

Thanks Clinto!

The truck is an M45A2 and most recently has been in the fire service so I guess it is possible it could have started like as a water purification truck.

Here is a picture:

I noticed those in the http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/45126-now-ive-done.html post. Check out post #5. I was pretty certain that it had the lift kit hubs on it. Clinto, the military was worried about frame damage if the truck were to be slung off the front bumper so they came up with this kit. The water purification TM is the only place you will find info on these (other than me).

Thanks Recovry4x4!

Add another TM to my collection. :-D You guys are just a wealth of knowledge! I learn something new almost every time I get on here.

Here are a few more pictures I took yesterday of the truck when I got to see it in person for the first time. (and the referenced drawing from the TM)
