R442 Conversion

I though I'd document my attempt to convert a R442 Aux radio. My plan is to use the shell to house another type of player and use the external speaker for the sound.

This is the display reciever my wife gave me for Christmas. She got it from Pvt Jarhead.

The shell,

Front and backside of the faceplate.

The guts that came with the reciever.

Here is what I used for the speaker stand offs.

Nice little diagram on the inside of the back cover.

Clearence for the back cover.

Hand to make a small adjustment to the grill to allow the front of the speaker to fit.

Old speaker removed and new speaker installed.

Here is the amp I'm using.

Looking good...I just picked up my Schoshe 4" speakers. I have two extra speaker housings and will do the same as you did.
The stereo is a Marine Dual that should work fine. The Pyle 12-24 volt inverter is in the mail.

I will be playing with the installation at work during my down time.
Securing the units in the box should turn out interesting.

Where did you download the radio chatter from?

Any plans for the "guts"? I have 442 that I'd like to keep alive, so any spare parts would be welcome.

Pretty much got this one done. Decided to go stereo so cut the jumpers on the audio out on the aux and wired them up for left/right. Here's a video and the music is from the system.

Got it from youtube. Here is some info on that.

Found this editor to adjust the sound and cut out dead time in the audio. You can also use it to change stero to mono.
