NC Any trouble registering and insuring an M1008 in NC? Want to use mine for weekend cruising.

The guy I got it from had tags on it from 2017 and put temporary tags on it when he wanted to go hunting. Was wondering if anybody had experience registering and insuring CUCVs recently. I'm in Brunswick Co if that matters, I know our emissions and stuff are a lot more lenient here. Don't really know what to expect.
