Finally rounded up enough fund to send the dual action fuel pump out for rebuilding.
Classicpreservation is where I sent Debs pump to - as he rebuilt the vacuum side as well as the fuel side - it looks awesome and runs great. So I am sending the pump to him for a total rebuild.

I forsee in a couple three weeks firing this baby back up and doing some final work to it that this numbskull missed in the few weeks I previously worked on it.

Besides that I see a trip to Sonics hot dog stand in the near future with the grandboys.

Just sent a pump to Then and Now in MA yesterday. Heard they do very good work and have a 1 year warranty.

Zout,I hope he uses good materials. I know some of the guys on the 715zone have had issues with their pumps. This new crap they call "gas" has eaten up most of the materials used. Hope you have better luck.

I've used Then and Now for pump rebuilds on a pair of M38's ('51 and a '52) that I have and will most likely send them the pump for the XM708 (I am running a civilian pump on it right now as I debug things...).

Looking forward to hearing what you think of this rebuild.

Sorry about that Zout. We put the only fuel pump we could find on your truck and it was working fine, remember??:oops::oops:

I suspect I know where your fuel pump went though...I'll tell ya in private though...you won't believe it...I guarantee.:beer:

Gimp - I had read on the rubbers and issues with the fuel somewhere - but I have not been on the site you mentioned - but I heard tales of it somewhere.

I bought the kit from him for Debs 38A1 and keep staring at the stems and new rubbers and I did not want to screw them up - I do know when to not do something. So I sent the stems and rubbers back to him and had him do them - I assembled the pump at the house. The material looked good and I poured chemicals on them to see if they would deteriate and they held up great.

Jeep is running good with the chitty fuel in it - it did get the hardened valve seats in the head as well.

Just funny how things work out cause while the 43 is down I am playing with building the guns anyhow - when the pump is back guns are done with and onto MY 43 - whoooooo hooooooo.

Zout is like me...has ADD and OCD so bad ya just gotta attack in all directions...at the same time.

(The meds help a little with the voices etc., but otherwise, they just slow us down!)

:cookoo:PB - it could be I fustrate myself more than life does.

I know I have entered data about Midwest Miltary and their service and parts on hand besides the great phone service (no punch # 4 to talk to John) not to mention to speak English. But what I have mentioned about that vendor is unsolicited honest comments about shopping with them through the builds of the 38A1 (which is not wired yet) and the 43.

I just finished ordering are what I believe the last parts I know of to get it on the road - and I will be going for the registration and plates this week. And yes once again he had them on hand and gave me selection choices of a part which they could have sent me the most expensive without me knowing - but offered a less expensive version of the part an still do the same job - now that is customer service.

Minor items to be repaired on the 43 and get it on the road and then get to wiring up Debs jeep - I never asked MM if he carried Douglas wire connectors :cookoo: he may have to talk with me again.

This the end of the 43 build information. No reason to add the Jeep when done as ya all have seen wiring before and lights blinking.

Dave, what are they charging you? I rebuilt mine with a kit from Midwest. I reused the vacume side seals. It has the newer fuel compatable seals/gaskets. I think he gets $170ish for a completely rebuilt pump.

PS-got the ignition parts today. (owe you a beer or two)

If you include the shipping that is what the full rebuild costs - and it looked awesome. There was a problem with the fuel stem not seated all the way in its hook - but he covered shipping both ways and repaired it and had it back in a timely fashion.

These seals are for the newer fuels as well.

You owe me NOTHING SIR - but if I make it into Cheyenne (I sure miss shopping at the ole Cheyenne Outfitters place) I can guarantee you I will take ya up on the beer.
