Deuce not recognized by traffic lights.

The loops sense a vehicle the same way a metal detector works, pretty much. The loop has some inductance, and that inductance will rise in the presence of a ferromagnetic object near it. Steel is ferromagnetic. One way of looking at it is that the loop(inductor) and a fixed capacitor have a...

Trickle charging two batteries in a 24v system (Ferret)

I use cheap chargers I find at thrift stores for ten bucks or less. They are made to charge 24V electric wheel chairs. They work great. They are usually less expensive because who would want one? Well, me for one... You should be able to charge them through the slave port, so you can forget...

PNW Duvall, WA car show. Mil vehicles wanted. June 2

Good luck with the show. It's a worthy cause.

    M915A1 Alternator

I think it would be just fine. It might even be a little easier on the alternator since it never has to try and charge up 4 batteries at once. You may notice it being harder to start in cold weather, but I started mine down near freezing with just two batteries. I tossed in a third, just to have...

    M915A1 Alternator

I converted to all 12v but have an option to add the 24v side for trailer lighting if I ever want to. See my thread at http://www.steelsoldiers.com/5-ton-mods-hot-rodding/76252-m915-converting-all-12v.html Basically, you chuck the 12/24 alternator and install a commercial 12v unit. Replace...

    Turbo Charger for NHC250

Turboing a NHC250: Risky According to the local guru, the Army went cheap on the NHC250 and didn't order them with piston coolers or even the oil channels. That means you can't cool the pistons, which are designed to run up to 250 hp. To get more ponies out of the NHC250, you can turn up the...

    M915 Recovery

It may well do that, seeing as how it's a lot lighter. It also has a much, much tighter turning radius. Just don't take it off-road. Irv

    M915 Recovery

Congrats. Welcome to the club. Need advice; call us. I have a 915 that I converted to all 12v and adding hydraulic pump. Otherwise stock. Irv

    We need a unified voice

I'd like to chime in, here. I see it like this: 1. We have a problem, that being potential rules/laws that do nothing and harm our hobby. 2. To defend against this, we need an organization with clout. MVPA is vastly far too small to have clout now, or even if it doubles in size. It's unlikely...

    M915 Belt driven hydraulic pump?

I finally spotted the available V-belt pulley on the accessory port where the air pump is. Thought it was just a space between the two huge V-belts that run the fan and the serpentine that goes to the water pump. Searching for a bracket made for an AC pump, figuring that I'll never find one made...

    M915 Belt driven hydraulic pump?

Gentleman; Thanks for all the suggestions. What I have for a tranny is the CAT 7155 semi-auto and I agree that there should be pumps and pto's for those out there, but in the last several months, I haven't seen a one available. I'm planning on operating a detachable gooseneck trailer that will...

110 volt to 24 volt convertor??

Go to Good Will or any second hand store and look for a battery charger for a wheel chair. Lots of them are 24v. I usually see them for $5 to $10 and they work fine. Irv

    M915 Belt driven hydraulic pump?

The M915 has no hydraulic pump on the transmission. I would like to install a belt driven hydraulic pump on the front of the motor to make a wet kit. Has anyone done this? I've already searched 30 pages of Google and no luck. I have an electric clutch operated pump already. Thanks. Irv

    MEP017A - Alternative to MEP002A

The MEP-017A has 240V, but no neutral. I have heard that you can dive in there and bring one out somehow. Without a neutral, you can't just feed your house. The 120V comes from each side of the center tap, which is not brought out. Anyone have good info for getting a neutral wire out? Irv

    Head Gasket?

Finding the leak There is a fluorescent dye you can get at Carquest/NAPA/whoever ($10 or so) that you can add to the oil. Then, using a UV light (cheap, nowadays) you can watch for the leak coming out, even on a dirty engine. Irv
