Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I did not mean to say there was nothing on the outside of the turbo, just that there would not be the huge valve hanging off the side. Of course there would be the air solenoid and hose and mounting bracket. I said this because of confusion from other members about where was the wastegate.

Here some more information on the GT37 series Turbo. http://www.trucktrend.com/news/1402-fare-thee-well-single-sequential-turbo-inside-perspective/ And here.

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I should have been more specific about the GT-37 series turbo. That is the base model and there are about 100 variations built on this platform. If I remember right the one for the powerstroke was the GT-3776 but don't quote me since I didn't have a pen and paper to take notes with. Almost all...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I figured I would post this information about the 7.3 PowerStroke before all the "fault finders" jumped on the bandwagon. As you can see it is very close to our LDT465 engine as far as the peak HP (at 2800 RPM compared to 2600 RPM) and peak torque (at 1600 RPM compared to 1400 RPM) ranges are...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I forgot to add that if we where going to race our trucks then we would absolutely go by the turbo map. But since we don't really need to worry about "spooling speed" and turbo ratio (exhaust flow to air intake flow) and other minutia we can get by with "pretty close" . Plus we are not using the...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

You can spend some quality time here if you want to make absolutely sure, but according to Alexander this turbo would work fine here. Pretty much the same factory RPM range and CFM needed and with the adjustable wastegate no need to worry about blowing off the heads ...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

The Borg Warner kit number for the "D" turbo is 194397 and it has been replaced with number 318368. Now according to the manager at Hatton Marine Engines the "GT-37" series turbo used in the International 7.3 (Fords) will fit just fine in our trucks. With the internal wastegate it can be easily...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

This was the outfit I was getting information from. I called them today and they do not have the kits on hand but can order them in. They are made in the UK.

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

I found out some interesting information today. I was rebuilding my "C" turbo, I have to replace my "D" turbo until I find some rebuild parts for it. Well the impeller is a NO-GO !!!! It looks like the previous owner sucked a valve or something through it. There are little chunks out of the...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

For the immediate future I think with some new bushings and seals the old turbos can have an extended life. These older turbos do not have the extreme tolerances that modern turbos do. Also the old impellers seem to hold up fairly well. The seals will be the most difficult item to find. A good...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

The most precise part will be the bronze bushings and possibly the spacers. The seals should be of a standard size and we should be able to buy them from any competent turbo repair shop. If the "impeller" or shaft is made then the unit is toast as there is no way to manufacture a new one without...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

The problem with "J&H Diesel" is they only stock NOS parts for the "C" turbo. Like I said there is no one making new parts for our turbos. I called about 3 months ago about a rebuild kit for my "D" turbo and they had nothing. So once all the NOS parts for the "C" turbo are gone, they are gone...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

This search took all of two minutes to find. In fact you posted there too ! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?95643-5-Ton-turbo-on-a-2-1-2-Ton/page2 See "JasonS" post about his 4LE-354 turbo in his LDT engine.

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

This is not the only military vehicle site I go to. On others including the "tractor pullers" they are playing with installing modern turbos. Be that as it may, there has been talk here about installing different turbos. I believe jeepsinker was doing this awhile back as where others. I cannot...

Are C and D turbos still manufactured?

No and no. There are still some NOS parts out there and a few shops can rebuild them. But by and large they are not easy to repair and a number of people I know are going to more modern designs.
