GEN 1 Light Voltage Gauge

My GEN 1 light gets really bright every once in awhile while I'm driving and the voltage gauge will go to the right when this happens. This just started yesterday. I'm guessing a loose wire somewhere or maybe the voltage regulator is going. Has anyone ever experienced this or have any ideas? Thanks.

voltage would not go way high like that if the issue was with the passenger side alternator, not if he's having the issue with the gen1 light.

I would check all the connections on the back of the drivers alt. If it occurs after tightening the connections, I would pull the alternator and have it tested just to rule out the regulator failing.
