OK Oklahoma Insurance -- State Farm Fail -- Hagerty for the Win

My long-time State Farm agent wouldn't push back on underwriting for me. Despite my need to bind insurance by next week for my road trip to pick up the new rig, they couldn't do better than 'our commercial team will look at it in the next two months.'

Hagerty bound it by web application and a pleasant 15 minute telephone call. Reasonable cost as well ~600 for year.

I now have a different State Farm Agent.

Thanks to everyone who posts on this forum -- fantastically helpful to us who are just getting on board!

I owned an agency for over 25 years. I wouldn't put my coverage with any of the TV ad companies. Go with the bigger companies: Travelers, Hartford, or Auto Owners. Stable premiums and the companies can do more for you. Hag is the best for vintage vehicles. Just my 2 cents.

I swapped to Hagerty a year ago when USAA wouldn’t cover my pair of Dueces anymore. If you have another old non daily driver, swap it to Hagerty with your M35. It might make both vehicles cost about half what your single truck is running right now. At least that was my experience.

Plus, Hagerty told me 100 mile 15,000 pound towing is part of the policy. Perfect for a M35.

I had Plymouth Rock for the M998 and Geico for my other cars and motorcycle but Geico doubled my cost from last year with no changes from me so I dropped them fast.

I went with Progressive for my reg stuff and Hagerty for my M998 and 93 Mercury Cougar show car and combined for 900 bucks for the pair. They were very nice and knew exactly what my truck was. Thumbs up for Hagerty and Progressive.

Recently got my M109 with Haggerty, 600/yr, Can't complain as I'm 22. Lovely lady on the phone, but she didn't seem that interested in learning what an M109A3 was. The paperwork is correct but the call went something like:

"Is it really a Jeep?"
"Yes ma'am, that's who made it."
"OK sounds good"

Good to know about Progressive -- they were next on my list after Hagerty. I had my mini-fleet with them for several years with no real complaints.

155mm, your experience is exactly what I expected from my SF agent -- "lots of questions, calls and photos from my agent" but got the Heisman instead. 😂
Very unfortunate, isolated experience -- I am used to SF agent going to bat for me like 155mm's did.

Water under the bridge now -- Old Stewie is full-on legal, so on to building the Beast!

Appreciate this forum -- fantastic information!

Started having trouble with State Farm about the same time the other Jake took over, I'm sure it's just a coincidence, but either way they were doing less for me and charging more and they wouldn't insure my Deuce water truck for any reason in the world .

So after a bit I dumped them and went back to Progressive, things have been considerably better .

However with Progressive who goes through Artisans, when I have my M931A2 AND my deuce on the policy and I have to put a $3 million dollar binder on my deuce for fires, it's mandatory that they do the same for both trucks which is very expensive (and completely unnecessary) so I took the M931A2 off the policy and I need to insure that was somebody else at a bare minimum, so I guess I'll look into Haggerty ....
