I too did the harbor freight bed hoist/crane and it works great. I mounted mine on the passenger side so that the crank handle was easier to use when lifting or lowering something when I have the cargo cover on the truck. I also notched my troop seat so I could keep them in use with the hoist installed and it keeps it tucked closer to the bed side for when the troop seats are in the stowed position 8)

It's been easy for me to swing it with 55gallon barrel on water in it. It does have grease zerk to help too.

Does anyone use the receiver mount crane?
I'm liking the style with the outriggers, but not sure if the legs would be long or sturdy enough...
