Ok I give...What is the "Thingy" by the coolant bottle for? It looks lie a place to sample fluid of some sort. Also what are the big black lines for. They cross over in front of the radiator, and looks like they come from the transmission. Any info will help.
Thanks,
Ken

The black lines attached to this "sample valve", route engine oil through the radiator for cooling. There are a couple more lines nearby that cross to the right side of the rad., that route the trans oil through the cooler.

I take it that there is "NO Part" or area that has not been covered on a 1986 M1028
CUCV, here in Steel Soldiers. I must do my homework better..!

I'm just messin with ya brother. When I first signed on and introduced myself, I was told Not to ask silly questions like "What is this button for?" without first searching the forums or the TM's for an answer. I kind of sets you up for comments like mine. Again. I am just messing with you. No disrespect intended.

I think part of it is knowing what to search for and how to search for it. I have made a, "my lights dont work post" in panic and frustration of not knowing how to articulate what the problem is. Thankfully, folks have been patient and given directions on the problem and links to other posts of how to solve the problem.

In turn, I have had the opportunity to pass this on a few times. Do not be disheartened. With few exceptions, everyone has been in the newbie slot at some point.

I have much to learn and am ever so thankful for the experts here that have walked the road before me.

If everyone "searched", this wouldn't be a forum. What's wrong with communicating? Ok, I vented.

Hilarious thingy oil pressure hookup

I searched for hours to find a place to hook up an 'aftermarket' oil pressure gauge and that 'thingy' near the rad/ tank showed up in this thread.

http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/65406-want-install-equus-6244-oil-pressure-gauge.html

Now if I search "thingy by the coolant bottle", it's right here.........hilarious....and thanks.
It's a little different without the mounting bracket but is an alternative when hooking up an Oil Pressure gauge.

As you now know, those 3/4" black lines on the driver fender go to hard line, then above the oil filter.

The gear selector linkage runs real close to the hard lines and I wore a hole in the hard line from constant shifting.

With the truck shut off, put it in drive and make sure you have clearance between the shift linkage and the oil cooler hard lines.
