I think your work is outstanding... But why not just keep the plywood? It actually looked kinda good, and your workmanship was super solid. I bet at the very least you coulda' skinned the plywood with Aluminum, and then you would have had a strong plywood backing for an arm rest.

You fabrication skills look awesome. Thanks for sharing!!!

I like that quite a bit. I like the ball for the latch (looks easy to operate). I would imagine the only potential issue would be repeated closings and bending the wire catch inward. That would depend on how much force is transmitted from the latch. Time will quickly tell and a different style striker would be pretty easy. I think those doors look awesome. Definitely a really cool alternative to X-doors. Maybe that will start to bring the price of those down.

Am I sure? No. The paddle latch is stout - it overlaps the wire striker plenty. Might the wire start to bend? Maybe - although the doors won't weigh a whole lot more than the soft doors. That's why I said I was thinking about fabricating a solid latch/striker for the dead latch to catch.

I'll see how it performs once I cut and install the doors.
