A strap wrench is a mighty fine item to have. They can solve ALL kinds of problems.I bought a 2" strap wrench to tighten the alternator with 10 years ago. Still works great!
Any particular make/model you recommend? Please don’t say Snap-on.I bought a 2" strap wrench to tighten the alternator with 10 years ago. Still works great!

Yeah, Snap-On has gone and gotten ridiculous, agreed.Any particular make/model you recommend? Please don’t say Snap-on.
Neat! If that holds up I bet you could sell those! *hint hint*I build me this a couple of weeks ago for the alternator and I'm absolutely happy with it.

That's a pretty work of machining! Did you contract it, or do that yourself?I build me this a couple of weeks ago for the alternator and I'm absolutely happy with it.

Thanks. I made it out of an 1" hex bar and cut some LH and a RH thread for 1/2"-20 ball joints through it which makes it now pretty easy to get belts tensioned. That's a pretty work of machining! Did you contract it, or do that yourself?
And are there internal threads of some kind for the loosening. tightening?
Drawing would be awesome.Thanks. I made it out of an 1" hex bar and cut some LH and a RH thread for 1/2"-20 ball joints through it which makes it now pretty easy to get belts tensioned.
I might build me version 2.0 sometimes with some little improvements but I don't plan to sell this. If somebody would like to build it I could make a drawing.
