You could build something very similar with off the shelf parts.

You can grab a billet tie rod adjuster and two heim joints of the correct length and bolt diameter opening. I've built adjustable brackets that way before.

I made something similar for another toy in my toy box.
Not related to this hobby but it still makes noise and turns a few heads.

Thanks .
25 plus years ago it was the thing.
Not so much nowadays.
Over blown and over carbureted but it's paid for.
They can get all the HP out of something that fits under a hood.
It was my first car. Still have it.
Swore I'd kill the first person that dented it. Ended up marrying her.
Still married , still have the car.
When I bought the HMMWV she said .
"If you really want that thing it's going to be the last HUMMER your ever going to get"
(If I had only known what she meant at the time)

Now lets get back to HMMWV's

Changed out the in-tank fuel pick-up filter. Question ? How many Steel Soldiers have replaced this part?

Swapped to Pittman arm and idler arm. It drives like a dream now. I still have one tire that’s a little out of balance. That’s the next fire to fight.

I did when I dropped my tank, cleaned it, changed the sender, gasket and filler hose, and THAT thing. WHAT a bear to get it onto the pickup tube. Took more effort than I’d expected sanding/buffing, pressing it into place.

When I die, heaven will be me punching engineers in the face all day; H**l for them will be getting punched in the face all day.

Back in the day I had 1966 GTO with a blower and side draft carbs that had just north of 500HP... and I was unbeatable. I had to box and re-enforce the frame to prevent cracks, and I chained the engine down because I used to rip through motor mounts until I went solid.

NOW, you can go and buy a car with 400-500 hp as a daily driver. 800 hp if you buy a Tesla.

Like the singer said..."times are a changin'"

Found some pictures of the A2 suspension I did 2 years ago. Lots of iron and parts removed to the scrap bin.

143.jpg Weak springs
224.jpgAll of the nuts and bolts replaced. About $150 bucks worth.

From the "homeboy humv" workbench... The brake caliper piston tool. A MUST HAVE for putting the squeeze on those little buggers.

IMG_7248.jpg The problem piston. New pads, new rotors = new headache. Have to turn and push at the same time.

IMG_7249.jpg It's a idea, start or fart.

IMG_7332.jpg AND

IMG_7333.jpg Better with blue paint. LOL

No time for the Auto Zone. Make it at home, CAMO

Looks good. I tried to make my own using flat stock to make a sort of open end wrench, but it wouldn't grip tight enough and wouldn't turn the piston. Then I used a C clamp and channel lock pliers. It was NOT pretty when I was done, but I got it done...
Yours is much better than mine.

"What's in your tank?" Here's what you could find.

IMG_7343.jpg My new to me HUMMWV. Well, maybe not so new.
AM General that's good. Date code 2-86 That's old. Same as the truck, HUH?

IMG_7334.jpg No show stopper on the outside.

IMG_7336.jpg Sludge catcher on the inside.

IMG_7327.jpg A dirty sock too. Just one.

IMG_7326.jpg And this thing that never knew half empty or half full. OH... the other sock. no there's only one

IMG_7306.jpg TADA... THE NEW STUFF ! New is GOOD.

IMG_1539.jpg Old man wrestling with a "tiger in the tank'

This bedtime story goes like... tanks can be cheap. Lot's of them out there. BUT the shipping is the deal breaker. The way here at the CAMO HUMMWV garage is I like it nice and tight, I mean clean and right. So got a super deal on tank and that's the rest of the story. Thanks 86humv

So, what's in your tank, CAMO

Got my legal, on-road title in the mail after submission of the paperwork last Friday. Woo Hoo!
It is my strong suggestion that you never post vehicle identification like this on the Internet. It can be used nefariously. Please black out ALL the numbers!!!

I did something simple but super important around my ocean community.

There have been lots of threads about WD40 and paint. I actually used it for its intended purpose.

All hinges and tow rings and such hit liberally. All hatches and doors and such suddenly normal.

It’s the little things that seem to make me super happy.

Best,

T
