I did curbside pickup at Carrabba’s. They don’t have “3 color camo” as a car color when you order online. I asked about changing the website to accommodate the HMMWV color scheme, they didn’t get it.
I would think a Colorado location would have "Camo" as a choice.... You must be in Boulder... (couldn't resist the jab, no offense intended)

Amaz0n sells noise canceling Bluetooth headphones for 46 clams. I bought a set. WOW. Ears stopped ringing. They work well. Now at 55 MPH I can hear myself think.

What a difference(!!), AND not the 300 clams Bose wants.

Not a true upgrade to the HMMWV BUT allows me to enjoy her even more.

Best,

T

[EDIT - Brand is MPOW, Style is H12, ANC. I have no affiliation. They also play music with decent sound base and treble and sub-bass. Microphone for cellphone Bluetooth conversations is decent.]

Why only three brake rotors? And you removed the auxiliary pull start cable too?

The forth wheel fell off miles ago. Saves a lot of gas mileage to keep it like this.

Guy's, I found the other rotor.

IMG_7444.jpg Was re-purposed

IMG_7445.jpg To cradle the differentials going back in.

IMG_7263.jpg All NOS, plus some tractor green paint to brighten up the project.

IMG_7266.jpg And those orange spots are not the mumps.

This highly effective back-up start system was replaced after the first and last PCB blew up.
I designed a PCB that doesn't need to be smarter than the driver, is EMP proof, no computer / PIC / IC's, provides theft protection and plugs right in.

Got $20 bucks for old parts. Spent a WHOLE lot more.

Nice return on the hobby. Shush... she might be reading this, CAMO

Installed some IBIS TEK bulletproof windows. Got the glass, pins, and mounting brackets from a friend of mine. Only modification required is smooshing the defroster down with a sledgehammer and installing the brackets. Fits in any regular windshield frame. These have electric defrosters so I will need to get a controller eventually. I also have to adjust the windshield wiper motor because the controller hits one of the handles.

Got the tubular brush guard on tonight. Took off the winch plate, drilled, tapped, and centered the brackets to the plate. I found out that the winch hole is not center on the plate at all. I only paid $100 for everything and I still have extra brackets it came with.

Spent father and son time going over my gauge cluster. PO had all wires backwards. That’s what we tackled today. Previously I had worked on tons of corrosion to no avail because of incorrect wiring courtesy of the PO.

Now all my gauges and lights work and I have that great feeling that I shared time with my oldest son.

I’ll post more about specifics of repairs on my thread.

I started to tear down the exhaust and everything under the HMMWV in prep to work on another transmission and hopefully get it done right this time... But then I woke up Saturday morning realizing that I needed to drive across town pick up some oversized stuff. So, I spent an hour putting it all back (much faster when the right size of every tool is already down there!) to go get the errand done. It did well, minus a little rattle from a loose bracket.

Now I can confidently say: there's no more ****ed errands scheduled for my HMMWV this year. I can tear its guts out in peace knowing that there's no mission for this wounded gazelle to leap at until its all better... Plus the garage has plentiful heaters in it, so there's no worries about keeping all the digits on my hands flexible if this job extends late into the season.

New wiper fluid motor. New wiper spray nozzles. Cleaned windshields and then hit them with "Rain-X" so now water beads and falls away nicely.

Installed new rear chains for hatch as mine had bad plastic insulators that were allowing damage to paint and lights.

Just began installation of tach and back-up camera. Bought wires and such but await Packard type "Y" connectors and Packard type male and female connectors so I might do a more bulletproof install. Rather than splice into wires, gonna make proper Packard type connections for easy service.

Installing radio tray with add-on closable document drawer (an old keyboard drawer), and a pair of 2-cup ammunition cup holders for coffee and warm drinks when on the way to skiing chalet or camping. It will be nice to have closed storage for registration and inspection.

I bought new replica X-doors with power locks and power windows and power remote unlocking. Gonna install in two to three weeks. As advertised by the company, when I test fitted them they appear to need to be tweaked a bit prior to installation. The company was open and honest about needing proper fitment prior to purchase (they seem very up-front and appropriate), because helmet tops and soft tops have slightly different tolerances and they are making one size fits all.

I'll post pics when done.

Best,

T
