3116 maximum altitude?

Hi,

I just saw a 3116 data plate on a M1088 that said "MAX ALT 1500M / 4922FT".

Does anyone have any insight into this? How serious is this restriction?

I have no idea (admitting that now) but I would venture a guess into any computerized injection systems reaching their operational range for efficiency and/or power output. As well as this .pdf says about that being considered "extreme environmental conditions" regarding oil and lubrication (bottom of page 13)

Thanks for that pdf link. These don't seem so extreme to *me*, so are interesting:

Severe Environmental Factors
• Frequent operation in dirty air
• Frequent operation at an altitude which is above 1525 m (5000 ft)
• Frequent operation in ambient temperatures which are above 32° C (90° F)
• Frequent operation in ambient temperatures which are below 0° C (32° F)
