Fuse for the temperature gauge

Ain't no such critter on a deuce. You have but one and only one fuse on the truck and that's the one on top of the in tank fuel pump. There are some circuit breakers under the dash. Whats the problem with the temp gauge?

Thanks guys. The gauge now fails to register the water temperature. I had the truck idel for about 20 minutes at 900-1000 RMP beause it had been sitting for a while. That's when I noticed the gauge wasn't registering anything (the needle was below the 120 mark). Normally after 5 minutes or so it will reach at least 120.

In the cooling fall temps. you may not be able to see the gauge rise like you do in the summer. Diesels need to work in order to build up enough latent heat before the coolant will be warm enough for the gauge to show the actual engine temperature. Take the old girl for a drive and then see if the problem still exists. When I was driving my full semis it took about ten to fifteen minutes of drive time WITH a load before I would actually see the temp rise and a few minutes after that before I would gain any heat from the heater. By their nature diesels are engineered to vent heat quickly and efficiently to prevent overheating and melt-down. I hope this helps!

Then turn power switch on needle should go all the way over to the right. If need moves you have a bad sending unit. If no movement bad gauge.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_paw.gif" alt="Paw">

Where is that fuse on the fuel pump? inside the tank or can you get to it on top of tank? I didnt know there was one either.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_blush.gif" alt="Blush">

Dan, the fuse is right under the cover on top of the pump. Just a couple of screws away.

We lost the oil pressure guage in our Deuce' after a week of hard rain corroded a contact, untill we figured that out, we had to jury rig a backup

"wiggle the plug" so to speak and it may come back to life

Gotta also appreciate the fact that the truck has some nice big gaps between most of the body panels, it's a jury-riggers dream come true

If I remember right, it was the one one the sending-unit end, not the dashboard end, I didn't acutaly see it, I was stuck inside the cab monitoring the guages while the other half of the garage (my dad) was fiddling under the hood.

Apparently all he did was pull them apart, and then stick them back together again, and that was enough to "clean" them so they'd work again

The same problem was causing the horn not to work
