I must have missed something. Where does the M880 come into the equation?

Why would want to use the NP208 over the NP205? The 208's are OK, but why test it with 400+ lb/ft from the Cummins. Stick with the robust cast iron case and steel gears. The only advantage of the 208 is the 2.6:1 low range vs. the 2:1 of the 205, but someone is making a low gear set for them now.

Give these guys a call: http://www.fordcummins.com/ They'll steer you right.

You can buy an adaptor housing to fit the Ford trans. IMHO, The Ford is better than the Chrysler. Let me see if I can dig up a Cummins p/n for it.

you all know the most about the 727's is why. Anyways the dodges are the wrong side drop of a transfer case is why otherwise i would use the 205 thats on there now.

So you all think i should use my c6 etc instead of the 727?

There are plenty of ways to adapt my c6 to the cummins. i just thought it would be cheaper/ easier/ better to use the setup that came with the dodge in the first place.

I know i can put a newer nv241 of a dodge auto to make it work but i was thinking that there has to be a way to make my 208 work or clock the 205 that came on it?

Um, why not use a Dodge transfer case? The '94 and up Rams are driver's side drop and it would bolt up. I think the Ford transfer cases use a different spline. I also agree on using a NP205 if you can get one to work, or at least a NV241HD out of a newer Ram. I would leave the 727 right where it is. I do not in any way think a C6 is superior to a 727. If you look at the internals you can see why.

ive found a 241 locally that is going to be the cheapest and really the only route.

Hello i have a problem. i have a 1990 dodge cummins 4x4 auto(727). This drive train setup is going into a 1986 ford f350 4x4 that has a 460/c6/np208

Problem 1: Need a drivers side drop transfer case that will bolt up to the 727.First that comes to mind is nv241.

Problem 2: I want to use a np205 but the dodge and ford 205's are way different. So i though swap out the input shaft to the ford unit. well that would make the shaft way to long. and they use a wierd adapter. See where i am going with this?

Problem 3: speedometer issues. how would i make it work correctly when swapping out the cases?

here is the info site for all needs.

yes i did, and they agreed with me on the issues im having. Seems they mostly use the ford trannys, and their is no way unless you make a thick adapter or cut/respline the 205 to make it work.

So i picked up the nv241 today and it appears to be in good useable shape. First things are to get my drivetrain fitted and then start fabbing up my mounts etc.
