I was looking at a cross reference chart, and it appears that if the model is a turbo M35A2, than it has to be the LDT-465. Is this correct? there's no danger that the truck I'm looking at could have the 427 motor, right? thanks!

MM!

If it is a turbo, then it will be an "LDT", liquid cooled, diesel, (T is for turbo) 465-1C or 1-D! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_shrug.gif" alt="Shrug">

The LDT 465 1-C is the "WHISTLER"

Good luck! <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_thumzup.gif" alt="Thumb Up"><img src="speech/icon_speech_yes.gif" border="0">

There may be some variations on that. The gov't had a program where they were detuing the 5 tom multifuel and putting it in deuces. That one is the LDS-465-1A. Also, the M35A1 vehicles were reported to have the LDS-427 in them. It is a turbocharged powerplant. Imagine my surprise when a buddy of mine brought home an M292 expandible van deuce that he got from GSA. It's labeled as a 1963 and low & behold it's got the LDS-427 in it. Dude does have a massive looking turbo on it though. Unfortunately, it barely gets out of it's own way. I don't think there's any chance of finding a 427 in any -A2 variants!

I've heard it was more a mechanical reliability problem, but they are less powerful as well
