M38a1 Bridge Plate

For years, bridge plates were available new in the yellow paint. I think they seem to have dried up and now you can only find them in 383CARC green.

This guy has the WWII style in yellow and the M-series in green:

I'd buy the green one, blast it and paint it.

A search of the forum will net you some discussions on the proper yellow color.

I thought that I read somewhere in a manual that 1/4 ton vehicles didn't use bridge wieght plates because the were the lightest class and could pass on any vehicular bridge that military had. There for no need to have them.

I am too young to have a "real world" opinion on this (heck, M38A1's were all gone when my Dad was in, they had M151's), but the general consensus out there on web forums does seem to agree with you:

We did not have the weight classification plates on the M38s and M151s when I was regular ARMY. Another collector vanity item like the water bucket strapped to the spare gas can....always contaminated with fuel spillage.
