Mule alternative?

This is probably blasphemy, but is there any sort of commercially available alternative to a mule? I'm not talking about the 4x4 Rhino/Gator/Mule/etc., but a platform-based vehicle like the M274.

If not, it seems like maybe you could build something similar. Is there any chassis or drivetrain out there that would be similar to build off of?

The MULE is awesome, but the prices are ridiculous for what you're getting. I'm looking for something to put to work, not sit in my garage. Thanks!

Not that I can think of. There is a civvy alternative that is similar - it's an articulated 4x4 called the Coot. They are still made today, but the older ones from the 1960s are pretty flatbed-like and boxy.

I have had mules for over 15 years......that said i also own 3 quads.......they get more work than any mule.......mules do make noce platforms to stand on though!
