do I need a BIIIG toolkit?

what size range of tools do you need on these things. I go up to 1 1/2" in 1/2" drive but I assume I'll need bigger or am I just angling for ways to buy more tools? <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve"> I'd think these things are very universal for ease of maintenance in the field, so maybe there's just a few different size sockets/wrenches I'll need. That way I can buy some nice quality 3/4 drive instead of some cheap imported set. What are all the tools you've used on a deuce? Thanks for any tips

So far, the biggest wrench I've used was only a 9/16'' box wrench......

I bought a set of Benchmark tools from Checkers in CA before going civy.. I bought a cheater bar and a few other sizes beyond the 1" in the set but only use the larger tools on the oil change. Everything else I use my 16 year old set.

cool deal. I've been eyeing eBay for deals on tools, but good luck, all the good 3/4 sets go for like $200. I think I'll tote what I've got up there, along with a large crescent wrnech for emergencies. Also I'll look over the manuals then figure out what I need

That 1" D handle sure works nice on lug nuts....but it sure gives the air compressor a workout...not to mention giving me a workout!

Here's a few tool tips for thought! You need a 1 1/2" socket for lug nuts! Also a 13/16" budd socket (square) for the rear inner nuts. A 3" 8 sided wheel bearing socket for just that. Everything else is pretty much common. The 3 sockets listed are in 3/4" drive and a big breaker bar works wonders. If you have air, a 3/4 impact makes life easy! If you're going to do engine work, there are special headbolt wrenches too.

We have 3 air guns. 1 is a 1/2 the other one is 3/4 and the other is 1 inch. Also have 1/2 and 3/8 sockets and a couple of wrenches for various other things like adjusting brake shoes plus bearing socket and other sockets and wrenches.<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_approve.gif" alt="Approve">

Napa part # NHP660 is the combo socket for the deuce wheels. Combines the 1.5" and the 13/16 Budd. If you have a friend at the local napa store you can score one for under 40 bucks.List price is over 100 bucks. That makes one less socket to to keep track of.

I have to agree!! And I found just that locally. I got a line on a 5ton crane truck here in flagstaff....hasn't run in like 5 years. HMMMM!! now i just need to convince<img src="emoticons/icon_smilie_bitchin.gif" alt="Bitchin"> the wife.

I was almost up in your neighborhood last week. We had a guy coming through Flag with a well drilling rig (82ish F-350 red). He bought it in Oklahoma and was headed back to GrassValley when it crapped out on him. We towed him home cause his wife is like 9.5 months preggo and he couldnt wait the week it would take to fix. To make a short story long I couldnt take him cause I blew my knee out again a few days before...and clutching a 6500 kodiak for 800 miles couldn't be done!<img src="emoticons/icon_smile_dork.gif" alt="Dork">

I gotta say, the wrecker idea sounds good to me, too. Especially considering a commercial rig capable of towing the sucker is gonna run you... BIG TIME. Better hope you can fix it or tow it yourself...
