Hi Guys
What sort of stuff was packed a usual day in the field for a V100 crew? I would think ammo boxes, Mermite box, Water jug, weapons, radios, kit and gasmask bags. Was it an orderly mess or was it just tossed in?
Thanks for what ever help you can give

Go to www.primeportal.com and look at some of the vehicle pictures that show them in service, not just parked on display.
You'll see a little bit of evetrything... from stowed gear, to empty soda cans and crumpled potato chip bags.
Study them and you'll start to see a semblance of order. Their weapons will be easiest to grab, followed by comm gear and right behind will be that case of sodas along with personal items and things to pass the time... magazines, small portable radio, etc.

There were no usual days for a V crew. When we went on conveys we would be gone from 1 to 7 days. All vehicles carried a supply of ammo and weapons were at hand as were radios and flake vest. We took 1 case of "c" rations per 3 men a day so we could have 1 to 20 cases with us. Some we ate some we traded off.
We all took a water proof bag with extra clothes, magazine, cards and stuff you didn't want to walk off. Also, if you could find one we had sleeping bags that we took with us. We also had a cooler for soda, beer and water. We would trade for ice with any one who had it.
We took the stuff that we thought we would need. You didn't want anything in the way if anything started to happen.
We called it a controled mess.
