Injetion Pump filter

All fuel filtering is done pre injection pump. On some pumps, there is an oil filter.

Code B, C, D, and E pumps do not have the hydraulic head piston oil filter. Code G and early F have an oil passage which is filtered for the lower part of the piston. This is a highly critical lubrication area due to the sub micron tolerances.

Since VERY LITTLE oil flows in this region, the filter lasts the life of the head. Do not replace as you cannot keep it clean enough. The primary purpose is to keep fuel out of the oil. Some oil leaks into the fuel and is burned.

The filter is located below the fuel inlet.

The problem is the duece only goes at top speed of 45. A gaurdsman told me that there is a filter in the injetion pump and it might be cloged. Does anybody have a solouation to this??

Do you have the TM? How about the Multifuel troubleshooting manual? Both are in resources here.

Check fuel pressure over the RPM.

What is the max RPM you can get?

Asuming that you have replacer the filter that is under the alternator/generator ? accesed under the vehicle onthe pass. side in front of the axle. The primary filter made all the difference in the world for me in speed and acceleration.

Then what is the fuel pressure? The IP has a gear-type pump on it which should produce 30 PSI at idle, measured at the fuel filters. No more than 75 PSI at 2800 RPM. The gear pump is easy to replace but a lot of times, it is the pressure regulator on this pump. You can find it, trace the lines.

If the engine will not reach 2800 RPM with no load, check the collar actuator. This is under the engine stop control cover (timing cover, 2 screws on side of IP). Pull the 2 screws and the cover. Move the rod/lever, it needs to move freely. If not, this needs cleaning.

It control collar actuator is fine and fuel pressures correct, then this is governor adjustment or fuel delivery. This is more complex.
