Would it be better to try and find a good used turbo or just get a rebuild kit for a Turbo for the LDT engine, the propellar shaft bearings are worn out, shaft has alot of play...
Haven't had a chance to tear into the engine i got but its going to be a adventure and i look forward to getting it to run again, and if that means total rebuild then so be it, glad i had auto class in school and the SS site today to help me out

Good choice Wyattearp. I rebuilt one of the turbos on my pulling truck. About three months later I noticed some shaft play, took it to a highly reputable shop and he said the balance was within factory specs, but factory specs can be as much as 15% from a dead zero balance! He said they don't last long that way and when he rebuilt it they zero balance them. You wouldn't believe how much better it performs from being dead on with the balancing!

Hey i have just what you maybe needing if you are going to keep that piece of american history...i have a running take out LDT 465. it has less that 100 hours on the meter. i took it out to replace it with a cummins (more POWER 250+++hp) so there is nothing wrong with it and it runs very good. the seals in the pump have just been replaced and the injectors have all been presure matched the turbo works good seems to spool up fairly quickly for a multi-fuel. the pump has been turned up slightly. makes good power around 160 hp i suspect. i would like to get 600 bucks for it but for all the info i get off this site i would let her go for 550 clutch and radiator are also avalable just relpy or send a PM and ill get back as soon as i can.
oh i think just a new turbo is in the $500 range not to mention the price tags they have on new pumps or just working on them if you ever need to
Thanks for your time

Hey Hot Rod, thanks for the information, yeah those turbo's are not cheap and neither is a pump but with all the parts from my engine this im sure is going to be doable. Yeah if i lived much much closer your engine for sure would be a great deal for me but with my work schedule and other stuff its not possible and the freight on an engine like that is unreal, I have already checked.
But i do thank you for letting me know it was available.
Sweet you put a cummins in the duece, hmmmm i thought about that but was unsure about the fit and all the mods involved, i have a friend who's cousin has a 89 12Valve thats been sitting for some time, as soon as the funds come available im going to go and look at it, seems the kids fell asleep and ended up kissing a tree with the passenger side fender.
