When I bought my M-1028 the P/O said he was paying like $30.00 for tabs.
But the DMV says because its over a 1 ton its not considered a passanger vehicle so I have to pay more :cookoo:

So they charge me $280.00 just for the tabs  Then I had to buy 1 ton plates (witch is kind of embarrassing because they start with y and people always ask me why I have wiskey plates )

So im just curious what everyone else is paying?

You could do what my buddy did. He stripped off the bed and anything else unneeded from his gov aquired 3500 pick up and had it weighed at a licensed scale. The truck weighed just under the breaking point for the higher fees. It worked here in CA, don't know about how your state works.

When i had my 1008. I titled it as a 1 ton (Class C Light Truck plates). Wisconsin DMV doesn't really care. I'm sure if I would've gotten pulled over and gotten weighed and I was hauling more than a Class C is allowed I would've gotten a nice big fine. It was $69.50 for title plus $103 for 1 ton registration.

The M1009 can get either passenger car or get truck plates. I have a set of tags from a Ford Ranger I had, so I am just using those. They are Class A truck plates. So thats $69.50 for the title, and $75 for the registration.

I live in Minnesota.
Your deputy registrar either had no idea what they were talking about or they screwed you.
You can register the vehicle as 10k+ or as a regular passenger vehicle with regular plates. If you're going to pull a huge trailer then you need the 10k+ plates, otherwise regular are fine. It should cost $35/year plus fees.
