So Just talked to Badger Diesel today. They told me they are going to need to rebuild the injectors for my set in addition to the pump. They stated that the injectors are sticking and need to be rebuilt. 55 dollars an injector does not seem to bad. Any way shipping it all tomorrow so hopefully by the end of the week it will all show up.

Got the IP back to day.

Looks professionally rebuilt, very clean and I also went ahead and had the injectors rebuilt also.

when it left my hose is was very dirty and and all nasty green.

Got the new injector pump on,

this mep 005a RUNS LIKE A TOP !!!!!!!!!!!!

bearing in the 24V battery alternator are bad and they got a little warm after 1 hr on the clock, will have that rebuilt and I should be ready for business !!!!

and the injectors came with new washers on bottom of the injector housing, I did NOT use them because the head on my unit has a built in copper washer sleeve at the bottom of the injector hole that's built into the head.

Built-in? That's one I've not seen. Those are washers, I bet, that are simply stuck in the holes. I used a puller to remove mine, though with the head on the engine it may be more difficult (I did mine on the bench...) However, if there is no blow-by or leakage, I'd say you are good to go.

As for the alternator, I'm sure the bearings are easy to find at parts houses, and probably just as easy to replace.

Excellent news Rick! Looks like a professional rebuild by the photos. No one else would use protective cap plugs.

may be built in is the wrong word, when I originally removed the injectors, their were not any washers. their is something that looks like a copper sleeve that's pressed into the head that I cannot remove,

I think just from years of being together and the rust and everything they are stuck down in the holes. Granted I dont see what the problem is with reusing the old ones. I was planning on just putting the injectors back in with the old washers and hoping for the best. How would you know if you were getting blow by the washer? would you hear it or see soot build up or something? Just curious. Rick looks great man glad to hear its running. How is the governor control over load droop? Does it hold pretty close to 60hz when you go in and out of load?

Well I hooked it up to my house, which is a 400A service, its a 5000 sq ft home, and the service is way over sized, but I turned off my 2 5 ton ac units, then started the generator. once it was up to temp, I turned on both ac units at once, and the hz went from 62 down to 60, then I adjusted the droop knob and it hardly drops now at all. looks like its drawing about 60% of the 30kw rating, I also did the 120/240 mod to the unit as shown buy you tube video by sevevic or what ever his name is from this forum.

Im real happy with my unit and Im bidding on 4 more of them now in barstow

Im sorry buddy, Your first price was probably the best one ive heard of honestly. I have been watching these things for years and have noticed that seems like you need a huge lot of generators ive found to drive the price down. When I was collecting mine there were to tractor trailers there loading up tons of them. THose are the guys you have to compete with and they make their fuel and trip worth it and pay more than we are willing to.

I did not get a chance to see the prices on these units but they were going up pretty rapidly then I was on the road all day.

Let me know how the next round goes.....

So here is the rebuild I got last week. Just got back from so-cal.

Got to say im pretty impressed just wish I had taken a picture of the items before I sent them off. Pump looks like it is brand new, and the injectors look amazing.

All and all I was quoted 700 just to start from a local shop here just to tear it down and rebuild it if nothing was wrong with the pump. So out the door paid 380 for the pump and 320 for the injectors so im a happy customer.

I would recommend them to anybody looking for a rebuild that does not mind waiting 3-4 weeks for the pump to come back.

Excited to get the pump installed and see how it performs.

Ok here are some of my pictures for the 120/240 vac conversion,

in the first picture you can see I sanded the brass contact plates providing more clean contact

in the second picture you can see I added flat washers to bring ALL of the contacting surfaces to the same level.

third picture is the 2 standard 3/8 nuts, I will use to interconnect for 120/240 vac operation

the fourth picture is showing how I will connect the #5 and #9 poles for 120/240 vac operation.
note: #2 & #5 are the same point electrically and #9 & #12 are the same point electrically.

also for a update on the IP, before I started the engine, I was checking the fluids, thankfully.

I noticed the oil level was 3 times over the fill mark......If I'm not mistaken 1 gal of diesel in 2 gallons of oil will make about 3 weight motor oil ( to thin ) guess I have about 3 gallons of sewing machine oil now

I called the guy that rebuilt my pump, he immediately diagnosed that i put the seal on the IP shaft incorrectly, I will fix this small issue and change the oil and report back,

OK boys and girls, here she is all finished up, just built the tongue and axle this morning and got it all welded on, what do you think?

I'm thinking of putting it on ebay with a real high reserve and see what kind of bids I can get, just so I can figure out what kind of dollar amount people are willing to pay.
