I know there are a million threads out there about this... but many are outdated. I have been working on getting my 71 M35A2 tractor insured for months now. I've spent hours on the phone, filling out online applications, doing searches online and so forth all to no avail. I am getting quite frustrated now. None of the big COs want anything to do with it - Geico, State Farm, Progressive, etc... I got pretty close with Hagerty, but with them I can't do ANYTHING with the truck.

I mean, come on! Let's be serious, I might want to take it through some woods and creeks a few times a year and if I put a bed on it I might use it for a few trips to the dump or whatever. Mostly, I'll just be driving it occasionally here and there for fun, no big deal. Oh an no, I will not be storing it in a garage, at least not any time soon to be honest, but who cares? You can't hurt these trucks, but for some reason Hagerty insists it be stored indoors. Hagerty is clearly not the right CO for deuce insurance unless you're truly driving it for parades and shows ONLY.

I live in MD, I'm 22 and have a clean driving record. Can anyone tell me who can insure this friggin truck please?

I'm sure that some of the threads are outdated but the underlying principle is the same. Search until you find a company that will insure it the way you want. If you want insurance then you have to live by their rules, if not then sell the truck.

I use Gulfway out of Florida and there are no restrictions in my policy no matter what you may hear. I read the policy almost every time someone says I'm wrong, others have as well.

Good luck and keep looking.

I know exactly how you feel. I have had one since I bought my 923a1 in November and they have sent me a notice of cancellation because it wasn't being garage keep. You may have read my thread ( Are all insurance companies stuck on stupid or just visiting ) I have the same problem but have narrowed it down to a few companies. One is Gulfway out of Fla and a few local companies. I'm just waiting for the bids to come in and then I will pick the one with the most freedom to use my truck anyway I wish. Beware of the Historical Policies they all have a bad habit of almost crippling you from ever bringing it out of a locked high security compound. I have learned not to pay in full up front. That way you don't have to wait weeks for a refund. I would call progressive because they are the ones who gave me the local list of agents. Good luck and just don't give up ............

I was going to get haggerty $160 a year full coverage but they had to many stipulations. A 2000 or newer car fully insured, A steel building for truck, drive less than like 300 miles a year and no off roadin. I met all requirements but the full coverage of a newer car. So i got state farm. It was hard for them to find what i had but they got it. And insured me liability for $55 a month with no restrictions. Try them again. It may be listed under farm/ rec vehicle. My agent in georgia 770-867-1679 if your statefarm agent needs help finding vehicle. Good Luck

I dont get it? I did a google on progressive, Called them up and told them I wanted to insure a truck. They said what kind of truck? I said a am general 923. She said wait a minute......uhhhh....oh there it is, I found it.......... full coverage or liability? I said whats the price, She said 300 bucks for 10 k of full coverage. I said hook me up and that was it? Dont tell them anything else. She asked what the vin was and I told her, she said it was a few numbers short so she added a couple of 1`s to the end. I said whatever works.

there are several companies who will gladly insure it, j.c. taylor is one but with historic tags there are going to be restrictions. if you don't want to go by the rules then get commercial tags and pay the high price of using it for what you want.

Good luck getting them to pay up if you ever need them too. If your agent just made up some extra numbers for your vin it means she didnt do any research to find out exactly what she was writting up. With almost 100% certainty, when you need it, they will tell you "Oh we don't cover those".

Age may be a factor also. I had a hard time before I was 25 getting insurance. You know back when the dinosaurs roamed the earth.

too true. if you ever need them they are going to drop you like a hot rock. you might as well just drive it with no insurance, cause that is what you have.

I've mentioned this on another forum, but for some reason, USAA insured my Jeep... they have my serial number listed correctly on my forms. no extra digits or anything. don't have a ton of insurance, but basic liability in NC. Now, you do have to be active or former military to be a member, or have family that are military, but it's an avenue to explore.

Try USAA. I just renewed my deuce at $248 for 6 months. told him 5000 miles per year. He asked me if the truck was garaged and I told him no, only have 3 car garage and 4 vehicles.

Have my deuce through progressive. Was through state farm, saved some money switching. Not sure, but the tractor part might be hurting you. Just a guess. Mine is tagged commercial, didn't want restrictions on what I could do with it.

I have state farm. They came out and took pictures and have the correct VIN. No issues under $200 a year.

Try Farmers. I had the same problem and Farmers was the only one that was reasonable. It's $25 for 6 months of 500/500 liability. The agent was into trucks and knew exactly what a deuce was too.
