I've searched the site as well as the World Wide Web and have found no evidence of anyone having grafted another cab onto one of these beasts. I think a longer wheelbase would be best, like the M43 or the M283. If I undertook such a project, I would like to keep the running gear original (but not necessarily stock) and update (civilize) the interior. Anyone have an info, stories or pics?

I haven't seen an M37 'crewcab-ed' yet. There was a fellow who made an M37 into a 4dr quite a few years ago (15yrs?). You might find some pics on the web somewhere. I think it was on an M43 wheelbase as you propose. Maybe someone can find a pic of the 4dr?

I agree, lengthen the wheelbase, or could have a small box like the civi hummer truck.

Personally I'd consider an extended cab with lengthened frame and rear Axel taken back to match the stock bed fenders.

Never have I seen a picture though. Probably never been done, and with the age of these trucks I would only do it if I found scrap parts. I couldn't bastardize a classic.

There is one up this way, not done very well though. I'll see if I can find my pics. I know someone who has dreamed of doing a M37 crewcab for years.

I'd prefer a runner in poor cosmetic condition to a non-runner in a somewhat conveniently restorable cosmetic condition for the project. I'd go crew cab since I have two little ones that can't ride up front yet. Plus I have an extended cab now and I HATE that thing. Haha

I hope you find those pics. I'd LOVE to see that even poorly done. I wouldn't mind taking a crack at repairing someone else's mistakes (yes, I've done it a lot. I work in construction. Haha).

I looked at those, but the main thing about this is that the cab is completely different. I'd probably design my own cab with slightly back-swept windshield, but the curves of the Power Wagons match the hoods of the Power Wagons better, IMHO. I like the boxy MV simplicity. Thanks for all the replies.

I actually found a sweet deal on a runner AND mostly complete parts truck. Could've made a crew and had lots of spare parts saved for a rainy day. Too bad they guy sold the runner and wants $800 for the parts truck. That sounds like a decent deal, but I don't own a truck that needs any of those parts. Haha

The best I can do right now is hope the guy I talked to a while back will give me (since he "promised he wouldn't sell") the 37 below.

That site was suggested to me by a guy I worked with in Kansas. One of the major reasons I've fallen for the military Dodges.

Also, I'd want to upgrade the axles, wheels, tires and brakes.

I'm hoping to do this to mine at some point down the road without extending the frame though. Hoping the look will end up somewhere along the lines of the Jeep JK. This is more to have a bit more lockable storage as well as a place to put the dogs that isn't in the truck bed. Have a line on an extra cab that is mostly trashed, but should be good enough. My truck was an old VFD truck so the bed has been butchered a bit. Should certainly be an interesting project but the first thing is to get the drivetrain on mine fully sorted out and get the current cab where I want it. Then it will mash everything together time

The Jeep JK is another inspiration. I think it would be cool to create and "ancestor" for the '08-and-newer Wrangler Unlimiteds. The JK is perfect for me, but expensive (the resale on some is as high as new, like that FJ Cruiser we had). Judging from photos only, I think if the rear door was attached immediately behind the front door it would be just enough room to clear the back tire. I'm not sure what kind of leg room would be left, but a longer wheelbase would probably work best for my needs. I play bass/drums/guitar for different events and would benefit greatly from a full-size (or nearly full-size) bed. Also, a wagon-type (think Hummer H1) removable hard top would be handy as well.
