Pardon me but I tried searching and I'm not getting much for details or results. I want to put in an EGT gauge to protect my motor but I cannot find much info on it. Yes yes I know the details on how to install it and where but what about the fact that they are all supposed to be 12V? how are you guys doing it? are you using a resistor?

Thanks

I personally liked the digital one from Auber Instruments. I cannot remember the exact model I used, but it was 24 volts so the wiring was simple. It also has a dimming circuit that I was able to tie into the dash lights and it dimmed itself when the lights were on. I posted a little info about it along with the mods I did in preparation for a trip to the 2010 GA Rally....Deuce Mods in Preparation for the 2010 GA Rally

They are not all 12 volts.

Mine simply uses a thermocouple and milivolts(self created).

So, it take no power!

Not all require power either. I purchased and installed a Hewitt EGT and Boost gauge. The only thing that required power was the 24 VDC Red LED's I had installed at the factory. Mine uses a thermocouple like Dogheads instrument.

I second the Hewitt industries gauges..... no power except light you can get them with red 24v back lights and the thermo couple and wires have a lifetime warranty.

I'm using a 12v Autometer pyro. I actually ordered it by mistake thinking it was one that required no power.

I found out that you can buy a $3 part at Radio Shack that will convert 24V to 12V for small loads (2 amp or less). Wired that in and used the 12v gauge.

That's what I'm using also. Good product. You won't be sorry if you go with Hewitt .

I frequently do my own gear sets, swap motors, trans and t-case swaps. But hooking up this little bugger scares the **** outta me! http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_21&products_id=147 Anything with wires is the bane of my existence.
The Auberins comes with very good directions, is easy to hook up, plus the same unit can be used to monitor multiple different systems, water temp, oil press. etc.
You just have to get the appropriate sensor.

Well I love the looks of a good set of analog gauges but I think I will get the 24VDC Boost EGT setup from Auberins. Very nice prices and I like the choices of colors.

Ok so for the gauge I have the boost/egt unit Part number SYL-1813-24 and the EGT probe TC-KEGT and boost sensor AUBER-303 the total is $137.76 not too shabby.
