Yesterday got a bit rough. Going up to 11.00x20 may have been a little much. My egt started outabout 100 degrees higher to maintain speed on flat ground. In western Wyoming there was a section of construction which went down to one lane. Of course this was on a decent climb. I pretty much had two options, ignore my egt or go up the hill at 10 mph and probably cause an accident. I stopped looking when I hit 1250. Sure has a lot more power at those temps. May be my inagination but I think after that my flat ground EGT is a little lower. Will see today. Leaving Little America Wyoming here in a bit. Will be turning south at Cheyenne for Denver.

Good luck on your adventure! I just drove my new deuce ~750 miles home from GA to OK. It's a fun/nerve-racking/exciting experience! If you come through Oklahoma and need something, I'll do what I can to help out.

Awesome video. Kinda gives me a feel what it would be like to drive the deuce at 1000 MPH getting passed by traffic doing between 1400 and 1500 MPH.

So are you going to sell brutus, to pay for the airfare to finish your trip???
That seems like a negative question, where did that come from? It appears to me that TB58 is dedicated to completing this journey. He's had a few setbacks, but with the overwhelming support of the MV community and his perseverance, I have no doubt his trip will only end in success.

Katahdin - it was one of the injector lines, got it all fixed up and back on the road.

Recovery - its like a warp speed Deuce. Makes me feel like I have covered a lot of ground

turn key - I will take that as a joke, and the thought dod cross my mind as I was chugging up the hills in Wyoming that construction had reduced to one lane and lots of very angry people were stuck behind me. But now were generally down hill and doing well.

Sigo - though i didnt canabalize parts off of anyones truck you are right, knowing I can come to rhis site for expertise and support really has made this trip possible.

I was stationed in Cheyoming in the late Eighties. My dad was there in the fifties. I probably would have done a little different route. I70- I35 south to the Cimmeron? Parkway- Muskogee Parkway around OKC to I40 across.

I once made it straight through from Cheyenne to Huntsville in 19hrs.

The last few days my phone has really objected to the data network so I havent been able to get on.

I spent last. Night near Ft Campbell, got to see my brother for a bit. From here I'll be heading down 24 to Nashville, east on 40 to Greensboro, down 421 on into my destination.

I was having power problems and severe regrets about the tire upgrade while I was driving through Wyoming. It wasn't until I hit lower elevations in Eastern Colorado that I realized I had all those troubles above 6000 feet. I think it was the altitude that screwed with me, things are back to normal now and brutus is running well again.

From Alaska through Colorado peoples rection to Brutus was for the most part positive. Some people chose to ignore us, but lots if waves, pictures, thumbs up, and conversations at fuel stops. Going through Kansas, Missouri and Illinois on the other hand, not quite positive. There I got mouth hanging open surprise, angry disbelief, and one girl in a car that probably cost as much as my first house looked very shocked and disgusted that anyone would have the nerve to invade her senses with such a grotesque machine.

Last night I parked in what at one point was a gas station and now is an over grown lot. I came out in the morning to see a school bus driver videoing me from across the street. I waved trying to be friendly, she ignored me and after a bit left. Not long after a deputy shows up in the same spot oriented on me. Through my pre run inspection he repositioned a few times but always oriented on me. I waved as I drove off but he only glowered at me.
So far in Kentucky all seems well again. We'll see as the day progresses. I am really thinking any paint job other than flat black needs to happen reletively soon.

About Time to get back on the road. Here are a few pictures. I have more video and will post it in a few days.

I try to top off before NC and make it through as best as I can. Think they have a higher fuel tax.

I did notice the fuel prices go up at the boarder.

After ten and a half years I drove back onto Ft Bragg Nc yesterday afternoon. It is amazing how much has changed, and what hasn't changed. I have until monday to sign in so a bit of time to get things in order. Thank you to everyone for the support and advise.

Here is a roll up of the carnage
Alaska-California
Alternator belts x 4sets
Alternator
Fuel pump
Hub Seal
Bad fuel
Transmission - 2ea

Found to be bad in Ca:
Radiator
Radiator hoses
Heater valves
Master cylinder
Air Pack

California - North Carolina
#2 injector Line
Front Tires (damaged in the tow)
FDC (making oil, bypassed on the road)
Oil Leak from fwd head gasket
Rear Main Seal
Transmission output seal
Hub seals 3ea

First real rain last night:
Various minor leaks in living space.

All in all i dont think we did too bad for 5,917 indicated miles. Will have to do some math to figure out what that is in actual miles
