New to the site and 5 tons! Just brought home a M923A1 and it is really big in my driveway!!
I will do the proper intro with direction or plans for this monster!
Anybody ever have second thoughts after dragging one of these things home?
Jeff

Then you need a bigger driveway, or better yet a garage big enough to fit several. And do not forget your right hand man to lift the heavy parts. It is addictive and they just multiply by them selves.

Hi all!
Just brought home a 1985 M923a1 with a M-105 trailer!! The intent is to stretch the cab into a quad configuration, loose an axle and outfit it for camping trips with my family.
The truck is a gov. rebuild and is in really good shape, I hope that means I won't spend more time fixing than driving!
Thanks,
Jeff

What an eyesore, hope you don't have a hoa. I will come haul that junk out of your yard for a small fee. Just kidding-- welcome from Florida, and nice looking truck.

I am in Memphis if you need any help with it send me a PM and no you don't have second thoughts. You just think about getting another or a bigger one in fact. Mine looks good in my driveway with my tan 923 behind it and the 934 peeking over the fence behind it.

Congrats on the purchases and welcome to the addiction! Are you planning to use the M105 bed after you extend the cab and bob it? Or keep it as a trailer and cut down/replace the bed with a more camping appropriate option?

Also, let's get on posting those pics, buddy...

Nice truck and welcome from Kentucky. It's not called "Green crack" for nothing, you need a matching trailer to start with.

Welcome! Nice find and I'd say it fits like glove [thumbzup] Stock up on the Motrin and Ben-Gay. Your achin' body will thank you...heavy parts on this big beauties ;)

I have second thoughts once a month when I pay my storage fees. But, my truck is like another kid to me. So, I keep him.

I plan on shorting the bed if I Bob it but I'm really liking the 3 axle, extend the cab and shorten the bed look. I'll keep the trailer as is.

I'm dealing with insurance woes now! They told me no problem sent a quote, billed my card and no they tell me it's a no go if I want to use it camping and or offroad! Only parades!? Yeah, I'll spend this much on a monster of a truck to drive it twice a year. Really!!??

Just go on a lot of camping parades, off road parades, lumber yard parades, 4th Of July parades etc....

It is addictive. I have spent so much $ on stuff for my truck, and it didn't even need any of it. Ugh. LED lights, radiator, exhaust stack, A/C, air dryer service x2, CTIS communication attempt (failed), upcoming dump kit, insurance, plates, oil changes, upcoming tandem axle trailer made from same truck, batteries, inverter, generator, tool boxes, fuel cans, fuel filters, air filters, belt, fuel lines, cargo cover kit, rear winch, front level wind (bought-sold), bed crane w/24v winch, radio, amps, speakers, CB, batteries, overhead light bar, etc..... Even just having drove it for the 6,000 miles I have so far, at 10mpg and $2.50/gal for diesel, that is $1500 in fuel alone.

Reach out to other members from your state in PM's and ask what they are doing and at what cost. They do beat-ups here for insurance discussions in public on the board. You probably should have looked it up before you bought the truck, but you already know that now.
