Does anyone have the actual part number Caterpillar uses for the M1078, 3116 radiator fan? Mine shat the bed on me during a road trip yesterday.

Thanks for the response, but these aren’t Cat part numbers. My local Cat parts guy is struggling. What am I missing?
It isn't for a specific cat engine it was made for military application only by borg Warner. Why there are those suppliers listed as the builders of it and its not an in house cat product.

Fan clutch # 1090-08000-01 of your truck is built by borg Warner. Not cat.

If you aren't aware, there is a military TM parts manual (-24P) for these trucks. That's the first place to start for part numbers, then work out from there, trying to cross reference with civilian part numbers. Many of the part numbers in the TM are already civilian numbers, especially on/inside civilian assemblies like the engine/transmission/etc.

As Simp said, the fan is custom to the LMTV, but they are often available on surplus sites and eBay.

Also take note that there are two generations of fans. The original one is all plastic (I've got one if you need it) and uses the rubber bushings to go together. The newer one has a metal center hub. However, if you change to the newer fan, you also need to change to the newer fan clutch... you can't bolt the new fan on the old fan clutch.

I thought someone said that you could remove the rubber bushings on the original one and mount it flat? Maybe I'm imagining things.

Was this a blade problem or the retainer screws came loose. Thought there was a thread where we were told to double check fan retainers? I have checked mine but will keep a eye on the fan for being loose.

Have a look at hortonww.com, they probably made the fan that is installed. They did build the fan clutch! They can provide you a part number and a local dealer. Another huge resource is superiorturbo.com They have helped me out with a lot of new obsolete parts, I would not be surprised if they knew the part number without having to look it up.
With the diameter and the number of blades you will most likely find the fan you need.
If you have no success, I have a phone number for an engineer at Horton.
