LMTV cargo cover on a deuce

The LMTV tarps are about 10" taller than the deuce tarps. I measured one in June to see if an MTV (5ton) tarp would fit on my M813. Basically, on the older standard bows, the tarp would come almost to the bottom of the bed. The top shape is also more angular, LMTVs use metal tube bows with straight sections that meet the crosspieces and uprights at 45 degree angles, rather than the curve on the older trucks.

I've put an FMTV top on mine and was hoping for the best and got the worst. Its like trying to put an M151 top on a MB. It just dosen't go. I was desperate though. Just save and spend the money for the right top. You'll be glad.

You've got the Tarps AND Bows? Hmm, seems like you could adapt it for a deuce. Make some sleeves for the bow sockets on the bed?

I have a LMTV cover on mine... problems are.. it was made for a 14' dump body... so it is too long and the front is not right... and yes.. it ends up low on the sides...

But... I have found a truck tarp guy that will cut it and put a front on it for about $150... which I will do when I get an extra round-to-it as it fills the need for the moment... in that it will cover the bed and be waterproof... so it will do for now... but still have the flaws mentioned elsewhere... had I known.. would have waited to find a 'correct' one...

It looks like you could make 10" longer vertical pieces for the bow set to make it fit.
Then I could just stand up in the back of the deuce!!
Do they make a version that is 10 or 12 ft long?

I'll second what Mark said. The covers are not that expensive and they are out there. Mark just sold a brand new cover for, I believe, $200. A friend of mine sold a brand new vinyl cover at Aberdeen last year for the same amount. Now...if I get the FMTVs that I'm looking at...maybe, I'd buy the cover from you. I should know something in a month or so.

These are tall enough and work great! Make sure you find some hemtt bows and your good to go. I am 6ft tall and can stand upright in the bed with the cover on. Those stock covers hurt my back bending over like that.

The tall ones are going to be for the cover...the short ones are gonna be the new troop seats...I'll be able to still have the tall cover...without the troop seats in...or I'll be able to have half a troop seat bench in (on either side)

Basically, for now...its going to be a "soft 109 box"

I've installed the LMTV cover with the cage on my deuce and I love it. It does stand taller and seems stronger than the standard cover. To adapt the cage is fairly easy, I had to cut 2" off the interconnect bars and weld some 5" pipe in the bed to recieve the cage, it fit great and I'm happy with the result. It is also independent of the troop seats so I can take out the seats if needed. I included some pics.
