And as you predicted it has done it again numerous times, randomly. Haven't had to get the breaker bar out again yet usually I just give it a minute and try again. What would be the starter replacement? Is it a 27MT? After a quick google search this pops up...

thank you sir! That was it! The starter must have locked up. It is running great now started up like a champ after that. Thanks again to you and everyone else that chimed in. I wouldn’t have been able to fix it without y’all.

The batteries are new by the previous owner 1/19 on the side of them. I tested them with a multimeter at 20 DC. They came in around 12.5V to 12.6V so I think that is right on target on where they should be. When attempting to start the truck they do drop down to about 11.6V somewhere around there.

the WAIT light comes on and then sequences off as it should. Previous owner said it did have trouble starting in the cold and needed new glow plugs

I will try what TGP suggested I believe the crankshaft bolt is on the big pulley lowest to the ground on these trucks? Sorry I am a noob to mechanical stuff. I have looked at the starter but not sure what I am looking at.

Okay... So alternator is installed, new belts are put in everything hooked up and still nothing. The batteries turned out to be okay after all the front one is reading 12.4-12.5V and the rear is reading 12.6V. After installing the second alternator, GEN 2 is now showing up on the dash at half...

Yes thank you, I saw that square hole the other day. Unfortunately whoever monkey'd with it before put a dent in the side of the PS pump... But I appreciate it when I get home (out of town for work) I will try that maneuver. Thanks for the reply.

Ah I see, thank you. I had 3 bolts loosened but may have missed one or loosened the wrong one possibly.. Is there any other adjustments made under the hood or is it just with the PS pump? Also how do you create tension once the new belt is on?

Just to update, and thanks to all especially with 90Jimmy really nice guy walked me through the generator install. It is installed but I am currently replacing the belts before I try and start it after all this. Having some issues getting the power steering belt off, loosened a couple bolts on...

I appreciate everyones feedback its been a tremendous help. I am going to get that second alternator hooked back up. Once I figure out the proper procedure, its missing some of the connectors on the Gen 2. Reading the TM's as we speak.

Are both generators/alternators wired the same? Thinking I can just match the Gen 1 to the Gen 2.

If you don't mind that would be great or just even a link would work. I appreciate all of ya'lls help. I am going to take a deep breath and relax lol, get that alternator on as soon as possible. Just unsure about the wiring, some of the connectors are ripped off.

Previous owner said it is untouched and is the original 24v system. I hope I didn't mess anything else up trying to start it today.. I will replace the blown fuses and try and get the alternator on. Is the TM the best material to read on the alternator installation?
