I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

"How much ground clearance do you really need?" At least enough to clear a black bear. Wouldn't want my LMTV to impede their path to our trash can:

Just won an auction - M1088A1

To seal my hatch I used butyl tape plus a bead of Dynaflex Ultra sealant at the joint and around the bolts once it was in place.

What have you done to your FMTV or LMTV today

Nice score, did you experience any issues with the stock turbo? I don't want to kill my stock turbo running the 370hp tune, but I'm assuming the liquid cooled turbo would only be needed when operating at the extreme end of the performance envelope.

Yep they are unicorns for sure, thanks again for the lead on the hatch!

I might be a little crazy – 4,000 mile M1079 recovery Illinois to Alaska

Been a busy week! Took the truck on another camping trip, finally installed my HIMARS commander's hatch, and then went on a 600 mile round trip to visit the parents and take part in my little home town's 4th of July parade. Out with the old (forgive the half-assed black paint job, the truck...

Mystery filters in annual service kit

I scored a couple 57K4845-007 annual service kits for a very reasonable price (NSN # 2590-01-603-9368 ). The seller said that they were for A1P2 trucks, so I'm familiar with most of the parts in the kit and they are applicable to my C7 truck, but there are 2 small mystery filters that I have not...

Would EcoHubs benefit from reprogramming Allison shift points?

Speaking of reprogramming the TCM, does anyone know what it would take to be able to check the transmission fluid level using the keypad? Per the Allison manuals, it looks like this is a common way that many RVs with this transmission check their fluid level. Do the mil spec transmissions need...

    Petlas 395-85 R20 tires

Michelin XMLs are the ones known for blowouts, XZLs seem to be well regarded by those who have used them.

Took a few road trips and now have around 1000 miles with the 370 hp tune and it definitely wakes the truck up a bit. Much improved acceleration around town, and it maintains speed better up mountain passes, although it is still obviously no speed demon. Realistically I'm now maintaining ~50...

ECO Hubs Who needs 3:07 gears?

I've been running that combo for ~7000 miles now and have been fairly happy with it. I only drove my truck maybe 5 miles with the original tires and hubs so I can tell you my experience with the Ecohubs/14.00R20s, but don't have a good basis for a comparison with the stock tire size. With the...

    New LMTV Owner

Agree with the others above, I would not plan on driving any significant distance unless you have the tools and time to thoroughly go through and refurbish critical parts of the truck. I drove mine home but only after spending about a week going through the truck and replacing tires, fluids...

    C7 Blow By

Mine smokes a good bit out of the breather on cold starts if it has been sitting for a while. Not nearly as noticeable during warmer weather and if it is driven more frequently.

    Getting LMTV from Hawaii

Nice, still a decent deal for a C7 truck when all is said and done. It is interesting that the Hawaii truck has a diesel heater installed on the box but no A/C.
