Is it safer to wear seatbelts, or not?

Has anyone mentioned that sometimes during an "out of control driving event" a seat belt is necessary for the driver to remain behind the steering wheel? You've gotta be there in order to attempt to regain control. (I've been there once, I could not regain control anyway, and went over a...

    M211 shackle strength?

I've only got 2, each with a chain on the pin and chain on a cotter pin. No definite load rating for them?

    M211 shackle strength?

I've got an old m211 . If I assume that it's shackles are original, what load rating are they? (The shackles that hang on the bumpers for hooking and pulling.)

    m135/211 repower

I understand this is an old topic, but I'm a little defensive about my small block swapped xm211. I'm sure the LS would be even better. :) :)

XM211 New Owner - any operational, PM, or spare part recommendations (or for sale)

Nice truck. Am I too nosy when asking "how long did it take" and "how much did it cost"?

A note to say good work, keep it up. I think I have an excess of back burner projects already, but this sure would be neat...

I'm just here to learn, and have done so. Duuane, Keep up the t-fer case work, maybe I'll get rich by some freak bank error and I can send my case to you for upgrading. :)

So again, if we're talking 50's deuces, what's the weak link in their driveline? If we've got 80 years of "learnin' ", well, we have still got to understand how they did things then in order to properly repair/modify them. I'm no metallurgist or engineer, but I do work on modern cars/trucks...

    M135 M211 2 speed transfer case mod

Well, isn't the subject matter pertaining to "early deuces" which are made in the 1950s? I don't know squat about most deuce matters, as mine is modified and I've only put a few dozen gallons of fuel through it in 6(?) years. But mechanically there's always a "weak link". In the drivetrain...

The never word is very strong. I immediately think of a Briggs&Stratton flywheel "key" that's made of aluminum and (the way I see it) designed to shear to avoid bending a connecting rod. Maybe it's not a true "key"?

I often don't know the day's date, and when I read "Happy Thanksgiving"...wow, I really didn't think my clock was off that bad! lol Happy Thanksgiving to you, either a few days late or a few weeks early. ;) Thanks for the efforts. I discussed this mod w/my brother after he helped me drag my...

    winch "cable" replacement

My 211 has a rusty winch cable that looks like coiled death waiting to happen. If I replace it, what do I need? Is it 1/2" 6x19 wire rope...how many feet long? These winches are supposed to pull 10k lbs?

Duuane, very interesting. And now (after some googling) I have a vague understanding of a Pilgrim nut. I'd love to take a tour of shops that do work like that. Perhaps that's the key to the success of YouTube stuff. It's a shame there's relatively little old "steel soldier" stuff on...

What kinda boat/engine/stuff are you working on? I'm near the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers, barge repairs are common. This tells you how much I know about it: Somebody trucks large props by my house, they come back very shiny. lol
