I've been putting a few road miles on my goat, even with the 12 ply DUWK tyres its very comfortable and pleasant on the road, it really likes to be at about 45mph. Get yourself some Bluetooth earmuffs.
There are still army reconditioned transfer cases available. When I got my goat it had less than 2000 miles on it and the transfer was junk due to lack of oil, it was cheaper to replace it than work on it.
That was me, see attached video. If it hasn't primed in the first 50' of driving then I'll pop the transfer into neutral and idle it in first until it does. It pumps more oil idling in first than it does in higher gears or at higher revs.
I've only swum mine once but I certainly wouldn't have wanted a winch on the front or any sort of waves, that water is awful close. It's a very bizarre feeling. There are pecial maintenance tasks to be done after a swim too, if you skip them you'll likely end up rebuilding all your hubs.
